what are you all afraid of the definition of "a real fan"?

Hot Toys CAN DEFINITELY make them more accurate. But they WILL NOT because people WILL BUY them anyway. It's ____ty.
YES! now guess who promotes it. :monkey2
these very real fans?

Is that backview really the Snake, though? Maybe HT came across this picture (which may be of the standard P2, but who knows when the coloration is so damn similar?):

We already know HT's inaccurate... I mean they threw in a Boar helmet and Hippie spear with Lost. I'm only collecting from them since the quality is definitely there and the figures just look gorgeous on display, spot-on or not.

Once again, the figures just look good. Excuse us for liking them. What, are we not allowed to enjoy them or justify our own spending choices? Dude, if you think you're elite enough to define what makes a true fan, then I guess you should just buy every Predator piece that's ever been made. Hmm? No? Then don't dictate what we should and shouldn't like (according to the Official Laws of Fandom™), because getting into an argument that's been started hundreds of times before really takes away your credibility.

He's not trolling, and he's not stupid.

Here's the thing...

Hot Toys can make accurate Predators, but they choose not to because accurate or not, people will buy them.

Although, their Predator figures are still really cool.

And since HT is pretty much known for making accurate figures, this can piss people off.. Which it kinda should.

You've just got to accept the fact that HT will not make accurate Predators. They just don't care about what the real fans want, and don't need to because they're making their cash.

If you want some high quality Predator figures, and don't mind the inaccuracies.. HT Preds are great.

I think that's why I pretty much stopped collecting HT Preds, especially with the price the new ones go for now. When cleaner Wolf came out, I had all of them to that point, then sold them all. My biggest gripe was joint visibility back then, but now it's lack luster paint apps and the sculpt (though I think the Predators figures have the best paint apps to date on the HT Preds). Even though HT hasn't made the Predators figures accurate, nobody has done them better, excpet for the 1/4 Neca P1, so they sell. That's the case with most of the Preds they produce.

And I do think your right that they don't put the kind of time in the sculpts as they do with human characters because they do know they can sell them regardless, but in the end, I think that's why they won't blow up in value like the other figures like IM and Batman; of course character poluarity has something to do with that as well.

Please define "a real fan".

I'd like to class myself as one - you know, collecting Predator stuff since the 1980s, have read all the books, comics etc
:rotfl
pity you'll never understand why you'll never be.

Good post , if they ever cared about us fans they may read stuff like this to help with there likeness.I agree with most of what you wrote but i keep in mind that you review these guys very tight.I collect what looks bad ass for the most part.
And without a doubt my predator's i have chosen to buy look amazing in my book.Bring it on shadow!!!!

I think I may be a bit backwards in my fan-dom. The toys caught my eye first and made me re-watch all of the movies. So when it comes to screen accuracy any flaws just slip past me.

Very true , there's a ton of figure's coming out to pick from. But without any debate this thread would be 3 pages long with "I PO it"."Or soo cool"!!

And then another three of "There are so many other great figures coming out I had to cancel it" :lecture

See, I hate the people who come in and say "IF U BUYZ A HT PREDATURDZ U R STUPID CUZ DER NOT ACCURATE", etc...

Like, I know that you, Blade, know that the figures could be far more screen accurate..but you buy them because as you said, they just look good. And it's not like you can't recognize them or anything, they could just be much better.

I love the Kenner figures that look like absolute garbage compared to the movie designs. I love the weird deformed looking Alien statues I always see from random Japanese people/companies.. I like Narin's artist interpretations, etc...

But the problem is this.. Kenner is not known for making accurate figures. Hot Toys tries to nail the likeness with every figure they create, except the Alien and Predator..
That's who they are. They're Hot Toys, the guys who make incredibly accurate, detailed 1/6 collectible figures.

The guys complaining about innacuracies :lecture

They'll probably still buy it, instead of going without The Snake Predator in their collection.
Like I've said before, if there is a reason to complain about something, to point out a problem and discuss it, you have a right to..
I'm not really complaining either, I'm done with that. I just don't really care enough anymore, I've sold off all my HT Preds and have moved on to more expensive, accurate things..
Although, I will be trying to pick up Classic for sure..

I will not be buying Snake.

Although Hot Toys Predator figures are very inaccurate, the paint is VERY nice most of the time.
I'm not seeing that with Snake..minus his head. And out of all the figures to use crappy paint apps on, he's one of the worst because he's practically naked.

people can complain about how not accurate the HT Predators are but at the end they still buy them...why??? because they are the best 1/6 Predators on the market!

Agreed, but i think what Lar'ja Thwei is trying to say is that if people don't buy it HT will be forced to make them more accurate.

Its that same result with the '89 Joker, people complain about the price but if they buy it the price won't get lower on future products becasue HT know customers will pay the big sums anyway.

Unfortunately with HT if people don't buy a license because of innacuracies its the same as a license that isnt profitable and they'll simply drop the license.

So this is the best you'll get really.

I was going to say it until I saw you say it...and now I'll say it again anyway. Not buying these figures isn't going to learn HT that they oughta make them more accurate. It will only make them think 'huh, people have lost interest in Predator figures'. HT aren't fussy enough about these things to think they need to do any better other than make the figures less toylike by making the joints less obvious. As far as accuracy to the film suits they are happy with their approximations.

If fans want superaccurate predators they should hound NECA en masse to start making theirs at 1/6 scale.
