Yeah, I was initially interested in posing him with the better scaled bio mask, but it's gonna be hard not to pose him unmasked after seeing pics like yours.

Any plans to buy the upcoming 1/4 P1? You know the unmasked portrait can only get better from here on out. And in a larger scale... :thud::thud::thud:

Probably be the only Hot Toys 1/4 scale Predator I go for, though. Are you gonna expand to the 1/4 scalers, Blade?

Apologies for dragging this conversation a bit off topic to begin with, but. . .I felt some of the comments on the PF were a bit unfair and was compelled to defend it a bit. Not to drag the conversation on much further, but what Butters says here is true. Very few Sideshow PFs have HT/Enterbay-level paint apps. Maybe some of the earlier ones, but even then, the best of Sideshow was never matched by the best of HT IMO, for whatever reason. Certainly nothing over the last several years matches HT's consistent level of paint quality. Just the nature of Sideshow's work (statues and 1/6th scale stuff). That doesn't mean they aren't very excellent, though. I have several and enjoy them, but they have their pros and cons just like anything, and the paint is sub-HT most of the time. That is not to say it is comparable to NECA, which. . .it just isn't 9 times out of 10. Anyway. . .just wanted to chime in on that. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Well said!:goodpost: And despite all that, it still doesn't diminish our enjoyment of these pieces one little bit.

I think P.'s done that. I'll fish around the thread for the pictures.

EDIT: Here we go...

got mine today. beautiful, beautiful skin colors, so alive!
terrible, terrible joints and pegs! one foot peg already broken + i'm afraid to move any elbows or shoulders & so on.
already managed to put P1 head with SilentSurfer mouth and tylerdurdem helmet on the body. colors almost match, hooray. no armor or gloves paint yet and won't be for a long time, i'm too tired for today from 3 parcels coming at one day.
p.s. "second batch", brighter body/head with round eyes. head paint is also very beautiful, but the sculpt makes me puke, so i hid the head far away.

well may be i have too rude arms&hands, but nothing ever felt so unsafe in any of old preds, and i took apart, cut inside and put back together every one of them, sometimes twice.
but the paint... it's something that i did not expect at all :) HT found a very nice painter since old times.

YEEAAAH!

:lol

And the rest:

there is no repaint except mouth from SilentSurfer.
but there is a camera flash with a strong blue effect )
still i prefer them because a) old HT materials live a lot more than new, so i'm afraid to use the new ones though they can be taken out easy (already checked), b) they are closer to P1 than the straight ones.

=======

mutations continue!

Thanks Blade. Though I've just realised that to turn my old P1 into Classic (as I think that old headsculpt looks more like him) no headswap will be required. Just remove his bone trophies, that arm piece and that little pouch on his waist. Only problem is he'd be lacking the hologram feature....edit - $h!t, and the option of the BD mask. Thats why I ruled that out before. Hmmm.

Strip him of the upper-half of the netsuit, fashion some forearm bands, and go for the captured look. ;)

Just leave them as they are, that's what I'm doing.

Yeah I probably will. Sometimes you forget why you ruled out a certain idea before and its a go-er again. Then you remember.

All part of the fun! It's nice to have options and change things around every so often.
