PREDATORS Discussion Thread (***Spoilers***)

Here's my take on the whole thing. Predators was made, as a test. A reboot. It was very low budget for a reason. See if people would dig it or not.


People did dig it. It did get more positive then negative reviews. 104 postives, 58 negatives. I cant do math for ____, so I doubt this is right...but when I divided them, it got somewhere in the 70's. So a good percentage of reviews were good.

Now I know some people didnt care for it...and I get why. The film DID have a lot of pointless refrences. I think they were just trying to win back the fans.

So the next film, i'm sure, they'll improve on it. RR isnt an idiot. He always improves from one film to the next. Aside from his kids flicks, he's a pretty smart man.

So I wouldnt abandon all hope....honestly, these guys CAN make a damn good Predator flick....all the pieces just gotta fall into place.

Indeed, say what you will about AVP-R (haven't seen AVP but I know Ian Whyte was in it) he's the best Pred after KPH. The new Preds, while I like their designs, for the most part the stuntmen portraying them felt just that, stuntmen. Also the fact that these Preds are supposed to be bigger and presumably that means taller as well, yet are clearly under 7' is kind irritating to me.

Not the first time you've brought up how Predators scored with critics. But I'm sure if they would've slammed it you'd be saying the same thing "____ the critics."

The A-Team was AMAZING. Best action film of the year so far. Also, Kick-Ass.

The A-Team failed domestically. So obviously there's fewer people who think that movie is "AMAZING". Money talks.

And as far as Kick-Ass, not sure why you listed that since it got generally positive reviews and made almost double it's budget domestically (8 million shy). It also debuted at #1. So obviously people AND critics liked it.

So both are bad examples.

And yet, it was a fantastic film.

Same with The A-Team. Both were great but failed at the Box Office. So there you go.

As for critics....I still say ____ 'em. They dont determine the film's quailty. I wont lie, i'll use them if I have to make a choice....or to get a semi idea of the film, but I dont rely on them.

I said "almost double it's budget". Not to mention it got generally positive reviews (76% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 7/10) and it debuted at #1.

And as far as Kick-Ass, not sure why you listed that since it got generally positive reviews and made almost double it's budget domestically (8 million shy). It also debuted at #1. So obviously people AND critics liked it.

That "8 Million shy" comment was because I thought the budget was $28 million. Regardless, 30 x 2 = 60. Kick-Ass made $48,071,303 domestically i.e. $11,928,697 short of double it's budget. And more importantly, Kick-Ass was independently financed.

Fans AND critics like it. So again.. it's a bad example.
