Good review Mr.8th.

However, it wasnt panned by the critics. It was pretty well recived. Atleast more so then the AvP films and Predator 2....but I got your point.

I think my issue still remains with the movie, it wasnt hard enough. It was fun, imo, but it never reached it's full potential. But I know why. It was just a "Lets see if this works..." kind of thing.

I would have wished for a couple of things:

A little longer movie, most of the extra time going on taking the predators down a little differently.
Less homages.
A little different score. I mean it was good and I've listened to it all, but in the movie it felt too close to the first.
More screentime and cooler death for Fishburne.

^ agreed except for the score. I couldnt ask for a better score. Honestly. I dont want new stuff....I'm sick of that. (____ing Danny Elfman....)

I liked all of the homages to the original. It truly got everyone's attention back to the Predator franchise (and away from the AVP garbage) and has now paved the way to a sequel, or even a new venture in the universe. With Rodriguez we got what we have NEVER had with a Pred movie ... one from a fan. Now I think Rodriguez is free to take on new things in the franchise without straying from the rules that have been previously made (once again, like that AVP garbage). I love Rodriguez's view of things in his movies and am completely excited for him to do another Pred movie, and maybe even tackle the difficult task of making a GOOD Aliens vs. Predator film (not AVP, always thought that was gay). Wether you loved it or hated it, IMHO this film got us back to the basics, which is never a bad thing.

l liked my review better.

Predators is pretty much dead domestically. It's down to 454 theaters. But it will be getting a boost in the foreign box office in a minute because it still has a couple more places overseas to debut. Argentina (like slipknot mentioned) and also Spain where AVP made 5+ million and where even AVP:R made 4+ million.

Did you honestly think it would last more then a month? I didnt. Big ____'s coming out soon. Predators is very low key compared to Twilight, and all that stuff.

No suprise here.

AVP made 80+ Million domestically. I guarantee Fox expected Predators to do at least that much if not better domestically. Right now Predators has only made 10 million more than AVP:R which made 40+ domestically and was also considered a domestic flop.

Unless you believe Fox brought on Robert Rodriguez and got "named" actors to be in it for it to only last less than a month and only do a little over 10 million in business here in the states.

If they had no expectations they could've did like AVP:R and got a relatively unknown i.e. less expensive cast and let the Strause brothers do it. Because right now the numbers for Predators is on par with what AVP:R did.

AVP:R
Budget: $40 Million
Domestic: $41,797,066
Foreign: $87,087,428
Worldwide: $128,884,494

Predators
Budget: $40 Million
Domestic: $50,617,339
Foreign: $58,642,000
Worldwide: $109,259,339

And Predators is no where NEAR the numbers AVP did.

AVP
Budget: $60 Million
Domestic: $80,282,231
Foreign: $92,262,423
Worldwide: $172,544,654

You can't honestly believe Fox put up the money for Predators with 100% assurance that it would fail to outdo AVP and AVP:R man. Predators + The A-Team + Knight & Day were the three big movies of the summer that Fox was banking on. And all three not only underperformed domestically but all three failed to even hit #1 when they debuted. No way Fox is happy about how their movies did this summer domestically.

Uh...AvP was PG-13...so yeah, I knew it wouldnt do as well.

AvP-R only made money due to the fact it was R. Which was a turn off for the fans of the series from the last movie.

But hey, good movies seem to be in the fail these days. Oh well. It got a sequel, so who gives a ____. :lol

i dont think that matters. its not like movie tickets cost the same what our expensive collectibles do. if a movie is good, ppl will scramble to see it no matter how many other good movies are out at the time. A lot, if not most ppl say the movie was allright, so when someone asks one of us, and we say it was allright, they arent gonna pay to go see it.

That's not always true. I mean, I get what you're saying, and it makes sense, but I wouldnt totally dismiss an alright movie. It just depends on if I'm really interested.

Like Salt for example. I was semi interested, and the reviews were just "meh", so I passed.

But take a movie like The Expendibles, if someone told me "Meh, it was OK..." i'd still see it because i'm excited for it.

But I do get your point. :D....making sure you know that.

Like? And I don't mean "good" as in a movie you personally like. I mean name a movie this year that got absolutely great reviews from critics and fans alike that still failed at the domestic box office.

:lol............i think you can also contribute the AVP movies being so bad that casual folks just gave up on the series completely. I dont recall myself ever going to a movie when ppl said it was allright. The reason why I never even saw AVP in the theatre was cause i saw PG13 as the rating and i went wtf...........pass!.

I went to Predators without even reading a spoiler review, and as you know i hated all the rehashes to death, so i wouldnt have even payed to see this one if i knew that, but to think of it, im never the one that ends up paying for movies unless its a date anymore :lol. With movies like SALT, Jolie has a big enough fan base that if its allright, fans will still go just to see her. I dont see anyone in Predators that has that kind of drawing power. If Brad Pitt, Arnold, or some other hot shot actor with huge popularity was in this movie, i think we would see bigger numbers at the box office.
