It might be a good movie, but will it go down in history as a classic?

I'm thinking no, based on what I've seen in trailers, there feels like a lot of small nods to the original, I'm sure there's fresh material but I feel like classics reach that status because they're original, fresh, something we haven't seen yet. I think after 2 Predator films and 2 AVPs, whether you like them or not, we're at a point now where you really can't too much more original with stories about this species without retreading the same ground again from a different view.

Not disagreeing, but the overall concept of a Predator being beaten down by Danny Glover when it took all of Team Testosterone to beat the first one is just downright silly.

How do figure!? P1 murked that entire "elite" squad. The only one left was Arnold and even then in a one-on-one fight Arnold used the tree trunk trap to win. So actually it didn't take a team, it took one guy and one trap.

In P2, it took one guy and P2's own smart disc weapon.

We're not gonna go through this again. :lol

Damn plasmid, you're getting serious answers with that joke now. :hi5:

does anyone have any production art on the "Stick Man" Alien? I'd love to get an idea on what it looks like.

What the hell is a "Stick Man" Alien!? :dunno

@Devil: It's another alien that appears in the movie... that's all I know.
I just hope this film doesn't suffer from "too much" syndrome, which (together with a laughable dark Peter Parker) is what killed Spider-Man 3.

Umm.. Think about it.

"They kill a stickman."

Doesnt get any more weird than that. Plus the guy in the picture you compared it with doesnt help much either.
So this was something they added later on? Wasnt in the script if I remember right.

If you're so bothered by the other one closing, going on about that in here is a quick way to close this one. The threads are for discussing the movie, the other stuff is BS with no place here.

ok, i'll only respond one last time to avoid being accused of dragging this on.

I WASN'T "going on" about what happened. i said it ONCE after the last time the thread was locked, along with other folks who also complained. my subsequent post was merely in response to what i felt was needless censorship.

anyway, you're right. there's no point in continuing to draw attention to the bad apples. consider the matter resolved on my side. cheers.

on a separate note, i just re-watched predator 1 and 2 again, back to back. p1 is still great of course. but i was surprised to find that p2 kinda holds up. it's nowhere close to the first film of course. but it's still pretty entertaining. the reveal of the trophy room and the predator clan at the end really opened up the predator universe, which is what sequels should do. i also loved the gesture of the elder giving his vintage flintlock pistol to harrigan after having defeated one of his own kind.

we learned quite a bit more about the culture and code of conduct of the predators.

Some of the plot holes Im worried about:

What happens to the pred ship - is it sent to Earth or does Royce somehow stop it from leaving? Because in the script it seemed like he didnt know how to and got off the last moment.
When Mr. Black is killed its a happy ending and our leftover characters know the war is over. But how do they know Hanzo managed to kill the Falconer?

Or is it just me who missed these things?

Eh. The Hazno thing isnt a plot hole. He's a deadly warrior, and they know they can kill these things. So it's probably not a stretch that he bagged one.

Sure, you can argue "How do they know for sure!??"....but then, they never saw another Predator again after Hanzo Vs. Falconer. Not one. (sans Classic). And since they've been hunting together since the beginning, it wouldnt be hard to assume he's dead.

Predator ship? Probably did. That's not a plot hole though. I mean, i'm sure the Predator set it to land somewhere far away, or really low key. It's hardly an issue.

Plus, i've read the ending...it's great btw, and it really sets up for a sequel. In a good way. But it doesnt have to have one. It's left up to you. Like District 9. So if they do one, they can expand upon that.

And the Stick-Man Alien was just a name the fans came up with, due to the creature's stick like apperence. (description).
