Unfortunately when it comes to many specific product questions (especially products still in development or that haven't been solicited yet) I really don't have much (if any) information to share. I don't work directly with the production staff, so information I do know is limited.

That all said...I can answer a few things (or at least try to)....

Wolf Predator Legendary Scale Figure - Should (and that's a big should) be available for Pre-Order within the next couple of months. Again though....SHOULD be.

Maul Lightsaber - I'm unaware of any changes made at this time to it.

Queen Alien Diorama -Unfortunately I do not know the status of this particular project.

Sauron
- This one is still a ways off before it's available for Pre-Order.

Ringwraith on Steed - This one as well won't be available for Pre-Order for a while either. I can say I did get to see this piece in person back in December. It's big and it is...awesome!

Wow so between the PF line and maquette line it looks like Boromir and the RW maquette is it for the near future?? This seems like a colossal mistake with Hobbit interest ramping up. It may drive people to the secondary market for their fixes.

I don't think SS expected the delay for the RWOS, i hope it will be ready by SDCC. I don't even think Sauron will go on PO until 2013. The Wolf, Obi, and Wolverine LSF's still have to go up this year.

Hopefully there are other LoTR PFs up shortly as it looks like those two are well off into the future.

Personally I think Sideshow is getting a bit out of hand with the LSF concept. Yeah they are a nice idea, but Sideshow is running into unexpected delays, other lines and licenses seem to be put on the backburner, and in the end they are just too expensive for most of us to afford. I think 1:4 scale is a nice balance: you get a nice-looking piece that is affordable and most importantly, Sideshow stays on track with their production schedule. I like the idea of a 1:4 scale RWoS, but in all honesty, I'd never order it because it'll be way more than I'd want to spend for any one piece. But then again, that's just me.

What Sideshow has been announcing lately is not enticing me to order anything.

Very well said.

Since we didn't get a preview in this newsletter, it is likely that we won't get a Lord of the Rings Premium Format pre-order next week. It will have been a full calendar year since the last release.:( It has been since October since we had a maquette pre-order. Time to start harassing Sideshow again about them finishing the fellowship and asking when we might start to see some Hobbits! I hope that Sideshow decides to have at least one LOTR related-item that features a Hobbit ship around the time of the upcoming movie, as the crossover appeal could really boost interest in both lines!

I would expect something with the something from the statue line soon enough. The PF could be SDCC if they're going to go for something larger.

To those who were curious about Sauron being an LSF, here is where my information came from:

https://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=35929

Sideshow has established Legendary Scale(TM) as a term to describe big projects, as collectors have found with the Legendary Scale(TM) Bust series. The term Legendary Scale(TM) is a promise of bigger and better. The Legendary Scale(TM) brand allows the artists at Sideshow the freedom necessary to explore monstrously large characters, like Neytiri from Avatar and Sauron from The Lord of the Rings, in a large-scale size that still comfortably lends itself to display in a home or office environment. The Legendary Scale(TM) category will also provide a rich landscape for characters from various films and comic stories to be displayed together in a very complementary fashion. Although pieces may vary in true scale, Legendary Scale(TM) Figures will share a similar physical size and proportion.

They will probably keep pushing the maquette line akin to their comiquette line in Marvel. From this point they may release the smaller scale version before the bigger scale ones for the more popular characters (barring the ones already released). They may be contemplating releasing Sauron maquette before the Sauron CSF.

Whenever the Sauron CSF comes out it will probably cost a ton and be open edition anyways.

Id be super pumped for a maquette Sauron over the PF/Legendary scale that I wont be able to afford...and bring on more orcs please.

just get the Weta version then :dunno. That's what I will be doing :wave. We need a big 27inchish Balrog from the maquette line. Those 2 pieces + RWOS pf is all I need to complete my LOTR collection.

Yeah I'm more interested in the 1/4 scale RWOS, at least that one may not be a $1500-2000 LSF. I didn't like the pose on Sauron either.

Thought I'd resurrect a general Premium Format thread.

We've not had any news for ages, but what would you guys like to see next?

There's been so much recently about the maquette line, but after Sauron and RWOS, we've got no PF news. :(

I'd love to see at least Gimli before they ditch LOTR and move onto the Hobbit.

PF version, the badguys work out so much better, I say IF they do one more....

Mouth of Sauron!!!
