An elitist statement if ever there was one.

When did elitism become a bad thing? The presidency is no place for mediocrity. When it comes to national defense, I want the elite. When it comes to brain surgery, I want the elite. When it comes to rocket science, I want the elite. When it comes to overseeing the most powerful and influential nation on the planet, I want the elite.

It's time to end the climate of anti-intellectualism and the flight from excellence. The growing number of prominent conservatives expressing disgust at Sarah Palin's presence on the ticket gives me hope Idiocracy is just a movie and not a forecast.

Striking within Pakistan, mainly in the North West Frontier and other Northern areas just shy of Kashmir would be worthwhile, if we can ever hit anything that is. The area north of Islamabad is a mountainous, lawless region with more fanatics and militants than the whole of Gaza and West Bank combined. The Pakistani military which is in the 7th largest military force in the world and quite competent has not been able to breach that area. Even if the US administered air strikes in that region, it would be futile because there are too many caves and underground tunnels to render the attacks useless. If anything we would need a huge land force to invade the area but then that might be considered as an invasion and god knows we have done enough of that in the past. If anything, we need to work with the Pakistani government. But now that President Musharraf stepped down, we'll have a much harder time doing that.

oh hey barbelith's back..haha how was the vacation?

it becomes bad when your elite is a celebrity (that rocket scientist isnt being glorified by the media). when NBC flashes his face like hes a god (i was watching NBC yesterday; saw 3 obama ads in a hour long show, no McCain.) when this elite has a 97% voting record with his own party (how is that good for ALL the american people).

and yeah people are looking at Palin like WTF at the momment (manly cause her sit with Katie C). but you cant say people arent thinking Bidens a joke either with his (FDR/TV line...paying taxes is patriotic..and contradicting everything Obama says) so for the record Bidens up 2 on Palin

just my two cents on whatca said..dont expect me to debate you on it, cause well this fourm would then reach a hundred pages.

oh hey look at obamas real slogan: https://www.anniemayhem.com/blog pics/snob.jpg

I love that people paint the portrait of Obama as a celebrity... Palin is just as much a celeb as Obama... so are many high level politicians who have ran or are running for high office. Hell, I can't go anywhere without seeing Palin's face stamped on magazine covers and peoples avatars... So don't try to spin that whole "Obama is a celeb" mess... It doesn't really apply.

And while Biden DOES indeed put his foot in his mouth a bit sometimes, he is at least prepared when people talk to him. Palin seems lost in that interview, and she can't seem to do anything but work a crowd of Republicans into a frenzy with her looks and jokes. That to me, heightens my fears of her being in charge of anything larger than a shopping mall.

yeah but you gotta admit all Katie was doing was playing Gottca with her, just as Gibson was trying to do.

and your right the only difference in them both being a "celebrity" is that NBC thinks hes a god. Obama has been on the covers way more. Hollywood Celebs are treating him has one of their own are vocalizing him further into being a celebrity. Palin what attention is she really getting outside of fox news that makes her worth wild? not much.

NBC may give him a lot of credit, just as FOX gives McCain and Palin more credit... it's the nature of the beast, bro. Celebs identify with him, at least some of them... can't box them all up as being under the same umbrella... because he is in line with their views.

And while Couric was going after her, I am glad she did. If Palin cannot handle the pressure of an interview, what does that say about her ability to lead in tight situations? It's the same kind of thing that happens to people in bootcamp. The ones who cannot deal with pressure, don't make it.

And honestly, all Presidents are celebrities... No escaping that.

Well said DA and barbelith.

These "he's just a celebrity" talking points are piffle and I agree that we should elect the smartest, most "elite" person available especially after the last 8 years of republican lies, greed, and manipulation.

Palin didn't even come across well in the Hanity interview where she was coddled and lobbed softball questions. I hope Biden wipes the floor with her.

As I said in my last post - the insults and generalizations have been coming from both sides. We should probably table this discussion until Thursday night when both Biden and Palin will give us plenty to discuss.

Invading Pakistan and striking within Pakistan are completely different things. Is Dog the Bounty Hunter invading Mexico when he goes after a bail jumper there?

Mexico thinks he is, otherwise why jail him?

Since my parentals watch news nonstop, they do watch MSNBC....and I remembered 5 McCain ads during every commercial break....so, perhaps they switch the ads off each day. 1 day McCain, next Obama.

Palin's been mishandled for the past couple of weeks. I think she's getting bad advice from within, cautioning her not to talk to reporters, have limited interviews (with liberal Katie Cupcake of all people???), etc. I think she will handle herself fine during this debtate, as long as she is free to be herself.

We'll see Thursday... :D

I wonder if Palin is going to stick with the " I live in Alaska which is next to Russia , therefore I have foreign policy experience" Idiocy ?

Why not, it worked pretty well for Clinton.

Are you saying you want a president that doesn't get confused when using terms like "sexual relations" and "intercourse" :rotfl

imagine... still talking about a past president's private life and considering sex a scandal when our current administration has literally bent the country over without even buying us dinner.

The thing is with Clinton he'll pay for his lack of morals and being faithful when his time comes. In the mean time the country was in a surplus and was on the right track. I'll take the way Bill ran things over the way Bush has run things or the way McCain will run things.

But once its over...its not over. It'll only just begin. If McCain gets elected, ^^^^ will happen, people will freak. Obama, same thing. Its a never ending cycle that'll plague us forever and ever. However, without it...well, we'd be no better then Nazi Germany, or any of those dictated countries.

Celtic that's what I've been trying to say for a long time but I'm always blasted for it. No matter who is elected, the other side won't be happy and it'll be the SOS all over again. Nothing gets done. This is why I wish we could have a strong 3rd party. Someone who will buck the system and do what's right for US without having to kiss their parties butt first. Too bad we can't get rid of parties altogether, but I can see the problem with that.
