Prime1 Giger Alien (Big Chap)

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the pictures and set-up quite a bit. But right now I just want to know about those spotlights. Really handy!

They were on Amazon but I had a lot of people ask me about them on IG and it looks like they are sold out. I like them easy to install and work with magnets so no holes. Super easy. But I don't like that they are not dimmable. I mean they are nice but really bright.

I was actually getting annoyed by the harshness of the spotlights with no dimmer option. I did some research and found out grease proof baking paper (withstand heat) is a perfect option to dim lights and getva softer look. The difference is amazing. I'll send both pics of before and after. It's amazing at how much better it looks after.

I can't believe that it took me so long to find out this piece had such a low ES. There goes the whole plan to wait for in hand pics. Decided to go with the regular action pose. Still not feeling the drool head.

As much as I love it, I still haven't decided if it's needed in my collection.

I know I want one, I still can't decide if I can justify the cost. If I didn't have the Jungle & City hunters pre-ordered, I might have jumped during the ES reduction. But I have and that's already just under 4k after tax.

The JH might not ship for at least another year though. At this rate, CH might not even come out until late this year. I think you will have time to save if you can cover the deposit. Considering the size, and detail of this, I think the price is good for the regular, which also has the much smaller ES. If it wasn't for them making 3 versions, I would say they would almost be taking a loss on this.

That's a tough decision, especially if your gut is telling you that you really love this piece and want one. How much does this piece including shipping cost exceed your budget?

I ask this because maybe you can work backwards i.e say it is $500 pass your limit, and you really love this piece as much as the JH and CH, maybe start towards saving that $500 elsewhere (whether it's choosing a cheaper phone plan, cutting coffee, booze, eating home cook meals more often etc). Obviously in a realistic and non detrimental way, you don't want to skip medical appointments or any cut corners for anything that could be health related.

By the time this is ready, shipping costs may also have come down.

Also it's not a small piece, have you assessed whether you can fit this big guy somewhere nice at home? A table or case can also be an additional cost so if your are going to get it, might need to also factor that in as well. I don't think you need to rush, there is still time to think if it is doable or not.

Why 4k after tax phyton? Why you don?t buy to your local seller instead of buying durectly to prime 1? The dx one cost me 2,5K? taxes and shipment included.cheers!

It's not so much the saving that's the issue. I can afford this already, especially with the flex payments. It's the thought of already having such a huge amount committed already. I'm just not sure I can justify it to myself any longer. We know they'll still have a Wolf, Berserker and Celtic etc at some point as well. I'm okay with missing out on statues I really want these days tbh, I imagine you can easily let this FOMO & this hobby in general run away with itself and start ruling your life a little rather than being the purely enjoyable side it should be.

That said, I suppose I could always sell my Sideshow P2 maquette among other things to fund this...

EX City Hunter = $949 + $307 shipping (How it's more I don't know) + fees = $1544.88

Total for the two assuming no surcharges are added = $3943.38.

I've already paid a decent chunk of this as I flexed them both. If I'd ordered them both locally from CDUK, I'd have had to settle for the regular City hunter and converted to dollars for the sake of comparison, it would have cost $4249.

It used to be the case that I wanted to buy every Alien & Predator collectible going, but didn't have space. Now I've moved into a much bigger house, with a dedicated games room. But prices on collectibles sky rocketed in recent years. Life's a ***** like that sometimes...

I had that SS P2 and even though I'm obviously more of a Pred fan, I would sell that to get this in a heartbeat. For me, the Giger Alien is the one Alien I want in the collection. I was gonna wait for in hand to choose, but due to the crazy low ES, I'd rather not risk it. Look how well Dog came out.
