Yeah... you guys might be right.
Well, I don't really need any more Alien flicks, but Prometheus and Covenant were a nice respite from the usual summer blockbusters. I wish we could get more movies like that.

Watched Aliens again and was on the edge of my seat as usual. Movie never gets old and has so many memorable quotes and moments. Horner's score is also amazing.

As for Covenant, nothing was memorable and I'll never watch it again. I mean, what was fox thinking letting Scott make that mess!?!?

Saw this last night with some friends. It was disappointing. It doesn't do a very good job of tying all the Alien movies together. I guess I was just expecting more.

And that right there is why you can't have movies with thoughtful or intelligent ideas make money nowadays... all people seem to want is MOAR ACSHUN AND GOREEEEEEE...
Ah well, at least its global performance is pretty good: 117.8 million total is not so bad, is it?

It's an Alien movie not No Country Country for Old Men...which I loved. You have certain expectations for a franchise. David went and released the Abyss on the people of Helms Deep. Then they had a flute session at band camp with one guy fingering the other. Enter Bram Stoker's Dracula alien. A 3 way shower scene. Finally a switcheroo that fooled no one watching. This movie needed an Anton Chigurh :)

But flute playing androids are so thought provoking, it allows for a meaningful exploration of our subconscious bravado with a metric of self discovery audaciousness.

We don't need no stinkin carnage lol
But, it's just good ole howmow-erotism bruh.

You just can't kino-post randomly, it has to make sense. That's why it never works with Marvel movies.

I just sold my Mezco Classic Punisher for $400.00. :horror

concur, you'd expect the international receipts would be higher with it being out a week longer. It opened with 46MM overseas weekend IIRC, now the intl total is 81MM, but it took a week to double....probably see a large drop off and here I predict it stuggles with the forthcoming week and weekend. With only a 36MM opening weekend gross, they will be lucky to make back the 97MM budget from the US alone. I really would love to know how much money Fox spent on marketing, it must be OVER 100MM more than the budget so in grand scheme, this thing is a flop.

Pirates will sink this stinker.

But curiously, will it be the worst film of the summer...? Or will that honor go yet again to a DC flick?

Wow! Aliens doesn't even hold a candle to Alien. I recall a few years ago watching Alien and Aliens back to back with my sister, her bf and my girlfriend and her kid. I recall much laughter during Aliens due to it's terrible dialogue and jingoism. Best thing to come from Aliens is : "They mostly come out at night, mostly."

Saw Covenant today. What is it with this and Prometheus and over-complicating a backstory. Weak! Sad!

Can someone help me out with one questions regarding Covenant?

In Covenant, David is the engineer of the egg sack and facehugger. However, during Alien the egg sack and facehugger are on the Engineer's ship. Now you can say that that Engineer escaped after being facehugged, but facehuggers don't lay eggs, Queens do. So how did the eggs get there. I mean when David showed them to Crudup's character they were still kinda prototypes.
