I'm reading and looking at reviews, and the majority aren't painting a nice picture. Maybe the release should have been in October?

Either way, some complaints are similar to those I've pointed out previously. Others are regarding the dissonance between the proposed sequal of Prometheus and the actual film leaning more toward Alien.
Maybe the focus should have been more on the black liquid and its why what where and whens, instead of more creatures. (though l love me some creatures) Something my newphew asked me was if the goo was Royal Jelly that was being harvested from a Queen. That's why there was a mural in Prometheus depicting these creatures in such a manner. He's 12, and his observation left me stumped.

Marines versus monster ants may be the only way to go now.

Might as well -- the Alien name really only still appeals to comic book fans now. And obviously that's an audience that's been overlooked for a long time.

:D

I saw it yesterday and was not impressed. It had a lot of potential but felt very rushed and unguided like it was trying to be a Prometheus sequel and Alien but was not coherent.

I agree it should have stuck to diving into the black goo, the Engineer civilization and why they were planning to wipe out humanity. Then as a result of learning the black goo intricasies, Engineer mindset/culture shaw and david could have narrowly escaped or died in the process of releasing the black goo to kill off the engineer civilization to protect humanity. There is its own movie, then had covenant to pick up after that finding the aftermath etc.

I don't like Chappie, I don't like Elysium, I don't like Die Antwoord, I don't like Neill Blomkamp.

I don't want to see an old, bloated Ripley. I don't want to see an old, bloated Hicks. I don't want to see an old, bloated Newt. Let those three characters RIP. Let the Alien franchise RIP. All it would be is the Neill Blomkamp aesthetic whilst ripping off ALIENS. Nobody needs to see that.

Ridley Scott should be finished, but they'll probably give him a third Alien movie.

Even the logos are different.

They were clearly trying to emulate the 1979 feel with this film (as they did with the game Alien Isolation).

FOX can almost soft reboot with the Blomkamp film and switch over to the ALIENS font and Sigourney ****ing Weaver on the poster will help sell it.

I wonder if Ridley has an extended cut that is alot longer than the theatrical cut- stay tuned...

Get ready..

lol awesome i'm giggling like a girl right now.

After District 9 I was all about Blomkamp, but after seeing his subsequent films, I now think Blomkamp has limited vision that we've already mostly seen. His films blur together for me, have the same esthetic; same look and feel.

I can totally picture what a Blomkamp Aliens would look like... and it doesn't excite me now.

Truthfully, I'd be more curious to see a Villeneuve version of Alien. His detached elegance and slow-burn in Arrival suits a Ridley-style Alien film.

Yeah, regrettably "hindsight" is usually very clear.
The black goo is probably what the series should have focused on.

At this point, another Alien movie seems unlikely if the money doesn't roll in. This is headed the route of Terminator Salvation and Genysis, Gyneses... or however the hell it's spelled and it's depressing.

Starship Troopers felt like the natural extension from Aliens -- and that's not a compliment.

Sad that's the direction that would likely be successful. Dumb it down even more, put some hillbillies in it, some mixed racial casting, loud guns, big explosions, hordes of munching zombie-aliens and you've got yourself a hit.

Maybe they should give Aliens to Michael Bey?

Yeah, well, slow, creepy Alien is now dead, so no one needs to worry anymore about their precious Giger Big Chap. He's *******d.

I tell you everytime a Alien/Terminator/Predator/DieHard/Robocop sequel sucks it just reinforces my love and appreciation for the originals and yes that includes Aliens lol.

Which is why we lucked out big time with RO!

DiFabio and EvilFace are being too harsh on that one set them straight will you Wor.
