Saw it today. Disappointed. I'm sure it's been discussed here already but I oddly enjoyed the film until the traditional Xeno showed up. The creature looked great, but for some reason, the film took a dive at that point.

David and Walter was great though. Enjoyed the neomorph scenes. Eh..I'll probably still buy a toy or two.

I agree. I seem to have lost interest once the XENOMORPH was introduced. Personally I think I'm done with the XENOMORPH alien. I found the other "white" alien so much more interesting.

Yeah, I think it's introduction felt a little tacked on.
They were doing some interesting biological stuff and then David just goes "hey hey look at this...dont this look familiar eh eh wink wink".

The only part I remember having an emotional reaction to was the experimented on corpse of Shaw. What a sad way for that character to go. A bit horrific to think of the details of how she got there. My imagination ran a little wild with that part. Even if it was just a "she died off screen" Loose end tie up.

I've been digesting the film over the day, and I think I do like it more than my initial feelings walking out of the theater. I'd like to see it again I think...

Not saying they weren't interesting, but the Neomorphs were kinda 'filler' to me. We all knew these were the first evolutionary step to ultimately getting to the Xeno. Fist gen. xeno or protomorph was ok, but still, I really think you can only do so much with either the Neomorph or protomorph, especially with David mucking around, they are bound to be short lived iterations. How the hell Scott intends to **** us for 2 more movies to fill an 11yr gap is just silly to me. In light of the poor performance Covenant is heading towards, if Fox green lights the next movie, I really hope that's IT with Scott and this direction, he's gone daft now.

The whole evolution thing is a mess.

What made the final Alien so more advanced than the albino, was it the acid I don't even remember anymore if the Albino had acid.

How did he give it acid blood anyways? Who knows who cares.

They both jumped around like Yoda on crack anyways.

Why is the egg method better than the spores method, hell those spores were smaller, quicker and more efficient than having to lug big eggs around and hoping dumb people like Oram poke their head in.

Seems to me he went backwards in science.

The entire evolution perfection chain just made no sense lol

The gestation period for the 'protomorph' (gah why is the xenomorph name a thing now!) is also a lot quicker than it was for Kane's son. Don't know why David wanted to improve that either.

IIRC there was some yellowish stuff oozing from the dead proto but I don't recall if it was 'sizzling' or not, I suspect no. The level of destructive nature of the 'acid' in the hugger though, the guy gets some on his face and he's just having a real bad day vs. the acid which came out of the hugger in the first film which ate thru 3 decks....

guess Ridley watched AvP which was the first to feature a 5 min gestation period! (which I thought strange)

That's a fair point that you make.

But...

In Alien the gestation period was not so short, right? Been a while since I have watched it. If memory serves me correctly, it was some time before that fantastic scene when that chestburster came out of Kanes chest? Or am I wrong?

I'd say the better part of almost a day for Kane from initial facehug till it fell off. Even after the hugger detached, Kane was still unconscious and was until the next morning it seemed. Even having a longer gestation period, Ridley was able to weave that time in the 'movie time' where it didn't act as an impediment to the story or overall pacing.

Lets just get Colonial Marines killing Big Chaps.

The thing I find funny is how nobody is mentioning that two writers of this masterpiece also wrote two other masterpieces, transcendence and the green lantern...........and yes that is sarcasm

My justification (aka ******** reasoning) is things that take longer to form tend be of better quality than somehing slapped together quickly. Like if you pop some pork in the microwave it's gonna cook but it'll be gross. But if you slow roast that pork its delicious. Since this is a protomorph, it's quick and not as stable than the more perfected xenomorph which has a longer gestation period and is stronger. Are you buying it yet? I hope so :lol
