I don't regret a single penny.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why would Iron Man have to pay for his own arc reactor?

I'm sure Mike got it for free.

Even though it's resin and machined plastic (yes, the wire-wrapped pieces are a resin cast), I actually like the Jmtwo version better, because it's way more accurate based on the screencaps.

Rick's version definitely is better from a materials standpoint (I would have loved it it the Jmtwo version was metal and stuff) and is impressive in its own right, but I chose to buy Jmtwo's because I'd rather have a version that matches the screen-used.

I will say this for Jmtwo's, the presentation of his is much better with the complete "glass" enclosure and the connector pieces built into the stand. Rick's is built into the prop stand itself and runs on three AAAs and he didn't include the plexi, then again the piece he was planning on including (Rick) looked a bit too thick so I'll find that part on my own.

Curious, how is Jmtwo's version more accurate if Rick is the one who actually did this for the Iron Man movie? ( I ask because I havent seen Jmtwo's version yet)

I wonder why Rick did that, he certainly didnt have to at all. Maybe to prevent people from taking it apart and replicating it? Kind of sucks it's not removable from the stand imo.

Rick didn't do this for the Iron Man movie, he did the piece that Obi uses to paralyze people, I believe. They both worked off of screengrabs and Rick had the preliminary mock ups from the actual prop maker but even said that he could accurately replicate exactly what was done before so the back of the piece is more stylized. Jmtwo used solid HD Screengrabs from that particular scene.

hmm, i wonder why i was under the impression that he did it for the movie. my bad.

Jmtwo's does look more screen accurate (has more of the inner frames), but I'd agree that it does look more painted than Ricks.

A shot i took of one that was on display before the movie came out.

Wow.... All the steps involved in making this piece is pretty impressive. If I hadn't had seen the steps involved I'd say it isn't worth $650. But after seeing that, I'd say it IS worth it :) Both are very cool though..... How can you buy EITHER of these?

here's a screencap of when Tony unwraps it for the first time.

And here's Jmtwo's version on my shelf. Dimensions and stuff aren't 100% perfect (the inner ring thing seems a little undersized) and it's not metal, but it's pretty darn close appearance-wise. I also realigned the reactor so the four-screwed prong lines up with the "O" in Tony ^_^

Jmtwo is running a second run over on The RPF but Rick said he is done completely with these because of all the time and effort he put into it. He had a couple extras though of people who dropped out.

Hey Mike,

If you had to do it all over again, which one would you buy? The more I look at it I want it. I'm thinking about selling some stuff maybe fund it.

Personally I'd go with Rick's. To me it just looks better in general and for the cash that is being put down I want it too look like it came out of Stark's chest more than anything. Jmtwo's looks really good and almost dead on from that scene but outside of the plexi it just doesn't have the same look as Rick's at least in pictures. I would have to see both (I considered getting both) to be really sure but I do not regret the choice and if I had the option I'd go for Rick's again. Plus Rick's has two functions. One is just the straight light up but the other is a flashing motion as if it were powering up. It was a nice touch that I wasn't aware of when ordering.

Could you give pm me a Rick's e-mail or something?

That is really cool . . . for as big an Iron Man fan you seem to be I would say it is a must own . . . Thanks for sharing . . .

Congrats...that is a very nice prop to own and a key prop in the film too. I love it!

Very nice prop replica! Goes hand in hand with the IM bust!

I'd say it was worth the $, given the limited run on these and handmade!!
