The only thing I was talking about was the kid outside in the backyard. That's where I get nervous. Because kids will do whatever they can to protect themselves from the cops.

But why do they feel they have to protect themselves from cops? Because they're doing something they shouldn't?

I read Toylion's story and I don't know what I would have done. Obviously you fight the guy, but what do you do if he has a gun or a knife? How can you fight someone that has a knife with your bare hands? And, even if you have a weapon, how can you measure your own strength in a moment of panic? how can you make sure you don't kill the guy by hitting him too hard?

Just very difficult to think when you have never experience anything like that. Something that always makes me wonder.

Oh, I could definitely see myself shooting that guy. He was lucky indeed. Home invasions have got to be some of the strongest cases for using guns in self defense. I know I've gone back and forth over Zimmerman, but having a known trespasser in the mix makes a huge difference. There are some laws out there that put some pretty unreasonable restrictions on folks defending themselves in their own home.

June 23, 1012 Sunday, I had had a few beers and had gone to bed early because I had to be up for work at 4:30 AM.
I've been stay with my sister for a few months now as it's closer to work. At 10:30 PM the restroom called, and then I fell back to sleep. At 11:00 PM I was awaken by my sister's blood curdling scream. She seemed to be scream for a long time and was calling my name, "POLO, POLO!" (that's what my family calls me)I jumped out of bed in my boxer brief and out of the bedroom. My sister's room is just outside mine to the left caddy corner, at the top of the stairs. Thinking she and her live in boyfriend may have been fight, I stood at the top of the stairs and looked down at the two of them at the bottom of the stairs.
Still half asleep, trying to figure what whats going on. I saw my sisters BF holding by the shoulders shaking her say, "Crazy lady, there's no one in your room, you're having a nightmare". She's still yelling at the top of her lungs, and as soon as I hear her shriek, "There's a man in my room". I look to my left into her room as a young Mexican man about 6' tall and slim walk out totally nude. I'm taken aback and time seemed to slow down as I tried to assimilate the whole thing. I see broken glass and the sliding glass door to the balcony broken. He casually looks at me then down the stairs as if to see what all the yelling is about. And if as it finally registers I yell, "What the F$#@! What the F$#@ are you doing here! Get the F$#@ out! He then proceed to take a swing at me, which I duck by pulling back. I then punch him and he runs back into the bedroom, trying to pick up a long shiny silver weapon. I immediately jump on him pushing down before he can bring it up. Just then my sisters BF comes into the room with a golf club he had been holding as he watched golf on TV. Yells at me, "Move Polo, I going to hit the MF. As he takes a swing I shout, "I'm going to get my gun!" That's all it took to get him to run into the night.
Fortunately or unfortunately, living in Temple City, I felt safe enough to keep my pistol locked and unloaded, so it took me awhile to unlock it and load it. BF kept yell for me to hurry up, and fearing he was in danger I just grabbed a ball peen hammer and ran back into the room. That's when he informed me the intruder was gone.
My sister was traumatized, but had called the police(sheriffs) It took them two hours to finally come to the apartment to take a report, because others had called them earlier and after the incident. He had broken into a neighbor's across the street. He was apprehended that night.
Now I said it was fortunate or unfortunate that my weapon wasn't ready for use. That's because after the incident there was time for thinking of all the ramifications of what may have happened if I had shot him. Also the fact that the incident made both my sister and me think of Richard Ramirez, The Night Stalker.
What made my sister aware of this man's presents? It was her cat. The cat knew someone was on the balcony, and keep looking at the sliding glass doors. She then jumped off the bed and split the vertical bind open with her head. My sister got up to see what she was looking at, and saw the naked man just lying down by the doors. Must of been waiting for her to fall asleep, she was reading. Maybe thought she lived alone as her BF was downstairs watching TV. Who know what could of happen if she had falling asleep. What with be sleeping off a few beers, what might have happened to us all.
That's one night I will never forget.
I tell you one thing, my pistol is now alway loaded and within reach. This was this nut jobs second arrest for the same thing. He was just deported the first time and who know what they will do with him this time. But if he decides to return, I'm shooting first and worry about ramification later.

Some have asked me why didn't I hold him for the police. One he was naked, two there was broken glass everywhere. I wasn't about to wrestle a naked man on top of broken glass in by briefs. Three, I just wanted him out of the house. Maybe if I had had my weapon ready and he put up his hands, I may have held him at gunpoint for the police. But whos to say how he would have reacted. May have lunged at me.

OMG.....how scary for you and your sister! I'm just so glad that everyone is all right. :1-1:

that's what I would be curious about as well.

yeah... Well I don't think I would ever own a gun. I just don't see it happening.

I am definitely not against them. I just don't see that as being something I would ever own. so using a gun against an intruder would not be something I could do.

I guess I would have to use whatever I have around And attack back, but then the guy might have a gun and I would be the one getting shot...:gah:

I'd say ****y-trap your home, but you'd prolly just fill up your house with blowup dolls. :horror :1-1: :horror

Kids drink and get drunk. They have parties. So yes. Or curfew.

You can't expect kids to obey every law. But I guess it depends on where you live. Cops crack down on drinking and weed more here then anything else. Because nothing else really happens.

Interesting. This man however does what he's condemning. He focuses only on the positives of one and negatives of another, he just switched those involved.

Who was in the pics at the end, who was he refering to?

the pics at the end were martin luther king jr. in a hoodie, comparing trayvon with dr. king. that's just plain wrong!!! and the final picture was obama in college, toking on a blunt.

i applaud your actions!!!!!! people are either victims or gun owners. i'm glad to hear that you, your sister and her BF are OK! like you said, there are too many nut jobs running around. you need to PROTECT yourself and your family above all. that's what the 2nd amendment is all about. :clap:clap:clap

@Lion: You're story is the stuff of nightmares, I'm so sorry you all had that experience, but thankful you are all physically okay.

Him being naked is really bazaar. I mean, his intent is clear, but who creeps around someone's house already naked? Were his clothes outside the house after he ran off, or did he actually strip down at home and creep through the streets in the nude? He must have been on something.

Thanks Mags. No no clothes outside, but when they caught him he had on swim trunks. And he definitely was on something, making all the more dangerous.

Just noticed wrong date, it was June 23, 2013

Well, that's true, but times change. If you want to get drunk, stay out of people's garages and off their properties. They don't know you're a kid or whatever.

You try. But when the cops are coming, you're going to want to run as fast as you can. Sometimes the only way out is by hopping a fence.

You can't stop kids from running on pure drunken instinct. :lol

times have changed. people have seen and heard about many heinous acts being committed. alerts are heightened. anyone who doesn't realize that and respect the times, may be in for a rude awakening. people aren't going to just lay down anymore so if they are put in a position to protect their loved ones, people can't be surprised about the reaction and conclusion. survival of the fittest comes to light. :horror

Hopping a fence has always been dangerous. You have no idea what's on the other side. People seem to think that we're entering some kind of Dark Age of self-defense run amok. Nope. This has never been the Garden of Eden. Your safety has never been guaranteed. Running around in the middle of the night with your faculties highly compromised is asking for trouble, gun owners defending their property, or not.

Learn to take responsibility for the level of risk you court, for **** sake.
