One more for the 90s.
Yeah, the love for our '80s sci-fi icons is undeniably there. We should be thankful that's getting across, particularly the desire for a proper Ripley. But man, if the other nonsense was removed, we could slip some fresh licenses in there that wouldn't have gotten attention otherwise. It's actually really frustrating to see, isn't it? Why do some collectors prefer to talk about this hobby on Facebook again?
Well, if nothing else, at least QS will read a definite interest in classic Terminator. With Hot Toys and then even NECA moving away from it I had started to believe that maybe there really was no love left for the license among the collecting community, even for the good films.

People will gladly participate in the poll, but they won't put any money down when the time comes. They see those empty slots and think more in terms of what they like than what they'd actually buy.God forbid if they put up a poll asking for what musicians, musical acts, etc. do you want to see in 1:6 gets posted.
At 1K/pack, I'd be able to PO maybe two per year. It's not like all their characters will be getting that treatment, but prices keep increasing in a speedy fashion, alongside the turbulence of the real world. As of right now I make one PO per two months or so. 2022 I thought would've been more packed, but 1/4th is down and I've POed nothing, so it remains to be seen.I know, it’s mental. Any 1k (USD) deluxe pack will essentially eat my whole figure budget for that month which means I need to get way more selective with my collection and probably start shifting pieces. I suddenly feel absolutely no need to have anything from BOBF, any Mando side characters or Clone Troopers beyond Rex and Cody.
Trading the 4 HT POs and a couple of 3P figures per month habit for one QS deluxe and one other figure would at the very least preserve what little display space I have left for a little longer.
Ledger Joker is its own beast so I'm letting it slide. We'll see when rooted figures starting being POed en masse every month if the mode is truly here to stay.--
Waiting for the inevitability when the default/starting price range of 1:6 figures reaches $499.99 USD to $999.99 USD and collectors willingly pay such prices look down upon those who balk at such prices with disdain and collector elitism while justifying/rationalizing it online among like minded collectors.
It's not like that's already happening right?
HMMM . . . .

That sounds like a familiar forum/group.

Eh, I don't know, it's still early. The reason why we even get into this hobby is to own the "ultimate" versions of these characters. When a new upgrade comes around, it makes sense to me that a significant portion of the customer base would embrace it. Assuming it is a true upgrade, that is.--
I disagree.
I got the feeling/perception that the high-end pricing brought out some attitudes and replies that come across as "elitism" by some across the various threads within CF about QS/IA.
Yes.
The rampant focus/hype is on TDK Ledger Joker 1:6 figure, but the casualness and quick responses by some is off putting.
I don't care if you agree, disagree, or whatever. I'm simply stating an opinion and yes I know what they say about opinions.
It's one thing to spend $1,000.00 USD on a many boxed figures and another to spend it on a single custom OOAK 1:6 figure or a very limited edition 1:6 figure, but if such is the new business/collecting mindset/model of the 1:6 hobby, then it doesn't bode well and there are those who with the perspective, "If you can't afford it, then it sucks to be you."
Buying/collecting 1:6 figures priced at $150.00 USD to $250.00 USD is difficult. The standard pricing doubling or tripling (or more) is too much and we've seen how a number of HT collectors boasts about their latest additions being the HT MCU, etc. cult followers they are at times.
No.
Not all HT collectors are like that, but you see a lot of them being like that at times.
That's pretty much how I see it. Very few figures I'll drop the big bucks for. But seeing as they're either locked with HT due to being SW/Marvel, or at from licenses that will never get that treatment, I'm not much worried.I view this as a great opportunity for some very high-end figures -- there's no way most people would want to recollect their entire collection at $1,000 a pop... but for a few grail pieces, I totally see the appeal of Queens offerings.
I'll still buy Hot Toys, and be happy about it. But its nice to have a new company potentially ready to push the hobby to the next level.

Me, I'm sticking with what works thus far. If moving forward it all shifts to that model, I'll be priced out and get far fewer, but I imagine I'll have gotten most of my wants by then anyhow. I'm not in it to keep going forever, I have a list I'm working through.
I see. I always just saw this collection as a way to "close the chapter" on certain things. Get the Omnibus, get the figure(s), bam, now I don't have to think about Batman/Green Lantern/Iron Man/etc again. The figure that new versions will always come around. New comic book runs, new installments, whatever. At some point you just have to walk away. One day I'll be done with 1/6th and move onto something else. I have some grails that I'd pay more than usual for, but as it stands, I'm continuing as is.--
I believe that's a key difference.
There are certain collectors who are in it to complete acquiring X number of characters and then consider it done.
There are others who are in it for the long haul until circumstances prevent them from continuing.
For now, I and likely many are in the latter.
I don't necessarily have an absolute holy grail list of figures I want in 1:6 asides from a properly done Bettie Page and Lynda Carter Woman.
If I can get both, then I'll consider myself done, die happy, and have both figures with me in the casket to be cremated or buried.
I'll continue in the 1:6 hobby collecting until I lose interest, it costs too much, or I die (i.e., getting married, having a high maintenance girlfriend, etc.).
I'm just looking to fill in characters or licenses Hot Toys (and other 1/6 companies) haven't done yet. I except I'll go standard in most cases, as rooted hair and seamless wrists mean nothing to me.I view this as a great opportunity for some very high-end figures -- there's no way most people would want to recollect their entire collection at $1,000 a pop... but for a few grail pieces, I totally see the appeal of Queens offerings.

The only way to win is not to play.At some point you just have to walk away.
This right here. I'm more intrigued by the possibility of better materials that won't deteriorate as fast, than good looking dolly hair.I'm just looking to fill in characters or licenses Hot Toys (and other 1/6 companies) haven't done yet. I except I'll go standard in most cases, as rooted hair and seamless wrists mean nothing to me.
If, however, the deluxe package comes with accessories I deem essential or real leather clothing, then I'd prefer that. The jury's out on how long rooted hair will last, but the fragility of pleather is well-documented.
I can't, I'm like MarkyMark in the beginning of The Gambler. The only way to win is not to play.
This could be you, walking away from it all cold:I can't, I'm like MarkyMark in the beginning of The Gambler.
