And if game devs and publishers do manage to kill the second-hand market will you buy as many games, knowing you can't trade them in for money off on another?

No, and id be a lot more careful with what i buy and read more reviews for things and NEVER pre-order anything unless its a sure fire thing like Arkham City or Uncharted 3 or Gears Of War 3.

There was much more story and vastness in Borderlands than there was in RAGE. At least it explains that humanity is on another world, Pandora, searching for a mystical "vault" that opens every 200 years and even chronicles the insanity of the one doctor (what was her name? Dr.Tannis or something?) as she searches for the vault. There's the mysterious "Guardian Angel" and also the conclusion on how Tannis directs your character. Plus, there were more than TWO towns and a vast open world to explore. The gameplay also had the depth of "looting" and all the unique guns you could dream of ("Diablo" a la FPS). If the story didn't get you, then the unique gameplay did it for me! But to each their own.

id Software got it RIGHT with Doom 3. The game story was told properly from the viewpoint of the marine and plot-holes were filled in with cut scenes as well as the addition of e-mails, radio contacts, audio logs and video files. You learn about all the characters, the teleportation experiments, the freaky things going on, "discovering" Hell, and the corruption of Dr. Bertruger (sp?) all through that. Doom 3 is one of id's "crowning achievements" and one of the best FPS games ever made in my opinion so they are capable of telling a story.

I think RAGE just had too much development focus on their idTech Engine 5 or whatever that by the time they were developing the game it became a rush. You can tell that the second half of the game is very thin with little variety in the characters and story. I think they rushed to get it done and out by the time the publisher started hammering on them.

not a chance, eventually you will have to buy online and download and delete when finished....... rage was first game i bought in months beautiful to look at but seriously boring

I feel that RAGE has been beat down so much that now anyone who approaches it with reservations will thoroughly enjoy it.

I just hope they fix all the PC bugs because I'll slice my wrist before I play this on console.

Aaah, you were so close...Go into this game understanding what it is and you'll enjoy it.

Hmmm...nah, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with everything you said.
Sooo...you're saying I didn't enjoy because I just didn't understand what it is?
:cuckoo: Please enlighten me as to what I missed...

I don't feel like explaining things to you unfortunately. Let's move along shall we?

:lol You sure come back and comment a lot for someone who's lost interest :monkey1

I'm ready to chat, but not about who's opinion is "right". Once I realized thats what we were talkin about, I didn't see the point anymore. You hate it. No problem. I love it. Good for me.

No, honestly it's not that I hated it, I just think it was over-hyped. It failed to draw me in. My expectations were high and as a result I found many flaws with it. It's not a bad game, it's just not a great game IMO. That's all. I'm sure a lot of people think it's great. At my age, with my limited time, a game has to be outstanding for me to buy it. I've been hearing a lot of people say the same thing about this game. It just wasn't the homerun everyone was expecting...again, IMO. Maybe I'm way off :dunno

Nah, you're not way off. It's just how your exerience was. I guess I benefited from zero hype. I heard about a new Id game..saw a screen shot or two and picked it up knowing almost nothing about it. I more or less expected an Id game in a wasteland setting and that's what I got. I got lucky I guess.

It's one of my favorite games of the year. I did a second play through almost immediately after my first. It's all about the gunplay for me. I love it. The smooth control, the gun designs, the different ammo, the amazing enemy animations and hit reactions. Never got tired of it. Being a first person shooter fanatic probably has a lot to do with that.

It does have all those things you mentioned. I love FPS as well. I was just disappointed in the repitition of always going through every mission area a second time. I always think thats cheap in a game. The old "I know you cleared the mutants out of there already, but we need you to go back". And I wish it would have been longer. And I'm really picky about textures in games and the textures REALLY break down when you get up close to things. It didn't seem that way in the gameplay trailers I saw. They probably had to sacrifice somewhere. It was already 3 discs already (on 360) The character animations and AI were very well done though.
