Yea, it's an old formula to have you go back to the same areas, but I enjoyed the fighting so much I never thought twice about it. It's usually a given in open games that there's some backtracking involved. I guess it was just expected and I dont mind at this point.

The new Tech 5 engine has some kinks to work out. At times, the game looks incredible and other times, not so much. things are ugly up close so I just stopped looking up close hehe. When you love a game, you tend to ignore or forgive it's shortcomings. If you're not liking it, the same problems seem huge and you can sometimes fixate on them.

As for the trailers, I'm guessing most of them were running on a super computer.

dsok, glad you agreed with me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt it was an average game.

snappa, I'm also glad you enjoyed it. To each their own like I said before.

There are games I love that other people absolutely hate and couldn't give two s***s about. I love the Dynasty Warriors series which is constantly critically PANNED and possibly one of the most repetitive game series EVER (though most people don't know it's constantly number one in Japan and ultra popular in Asia) but it's my "cup of tea" as a mindless hack 'n slash.

For some games there are those of us who have high expectations. And with a studio with the reputation of id Software, the makers of Quake, DOOM and Wolfenstein who essentially "drove" FPS gaming into what it is today, I don't think it's too far of a stretch for SOME OF US to expect more than what we got.

Imagine if Bethesda (Fallout, The Elder Scrolls) put out a bad FPS Action RPG, or Bungie (Halo) bombed on a new IP. You expect a lot from a reputable studio and to some of us, RAGE was a huge disappointment.

I'm happy you love RAGE, snappa and I hope for you and others they put out some solid DLC to keep you playing. :) I honestly mean that! But my copy is going to be traded in!

This game sucked ass.

Nothing new, unique or special about it at all. Id should have made Doom 4 instead of this.

Still $25 trade in value at Best Buy :)

They did say that they plan to make Rage 2. I dont know about DLC. Id has no history with it, so who knows.

Just finished it, really odd that they give you a BFG at the end of the game with nothing "big" to shoot at, I feel like the game really had a LOT of potential but it fell short IMO. You had too much money which got you too much ammo and the bladed fists from the Anarchy edition were way too powerful. On normal difficulty I never had to use the defib. I loved the characters looks and the voice acting was first class, but you never got to interact or know anyone, who were the Authority? Why would almost every character in the game go to their deaths to fight them? Too many questions, too little real story... I give it a 7/10 because the graphics rock once you get past the driver issues and the driving / fighting was well done.

I almost bought this along with Arkham City...but the guy at Game Stop recommended I wait and get it used or discounted. First time I've had someone at a game store talk me out of getting something.

After reading a lot of these reviews, I'm glad I didn't get it. I loved Borderlands and Fallout - just plain action games get boring to me after awhile - I like a good story with my games and it sounds like I probably would be disappointed with this one.

Playing Rage now - went in with low expectations, and am enjoying it. Just finished the insanely hard Dark Souls, so was looking forward to an easy FPS. Playing on 'Hard' mode, and all-in-all, pretty good. I agree that there is very in the way of plot, but what's done right here is pretty fun......

I picked this up for $30 new and i'm loving it so far, map is really well done and love the score and general creepy feel this game delivers, especially with my PS3 headphones on with surround sound enabled.

Rage ended up being very very 'meh' for me. Graphics are decent, but the ending was really really bad

If they do a Rage 2, I shall be passing. Borderlands was 1000 times more fun to me.

I played the RAGE demo on my PS3 a couple of days ago and was blown away by the graphics and what looked like a great open world game a la Fallout 3.

I check out some reviews,.. they are good saying the gameplay is top notch and the world is beautiful, except apparently the story sucks and the characters aren't worth knowing.

Well, since the gameplay is solid than I will have to buy it.

Then I check out gamers reviews on not only this forum, but a few others as well...

... and it seems like nearly EVERBODY is disappointed with the game. On top of that, the illusion of an open world environment is apparently just that... an illusion.

:( Now I don't know If I want it anymore. I'm afraid I'll just walk away from it disappointed like almost everyone else.

Oh well. I did finally buy Dead Space 2 yesterday and I'm not disappointed in that in the slightest.

Now bring on March for Silent Hill and Resident Evil ORC!

I'd say its worth $30 brand new, i got the "anarchy edition" and the double barrel sawed off shotgun is a cool weapon to have.

I'm one of the few that loved Rage. If you know what Id does as a developer, you should know what you're getting with Rage. It was never meant to be seen as a competitor with Fallout or Borderlands. It just shares the same setting.

It's all about the gunplay. The story is straight forward like Ids past releases and the length is about 10 hours which is also about normal for them. It has awesome designs, 60 frames per second, great atmosphere and music and top notch control. It was easily one of my top 10 games of '11

Count me among the few. snappahead is dead-on. My expectations changed drastically about a month before release, but I loved it nonetheless.

A lot of the standards complaints are dead on. The story could have been executed better and some of the textures get muddied upon close inspection, but for the most part, the game is beautiful and an absolute blast to play. I spent around 30 hours on my two play-throughs.

The ending was anti-climactic, but I there is potential for a fantastic sequel.

I will say that Rage has awesome enemy AI and movements....way, way better than most.....that is the highlight of this game, for me. Bad guys always impressed in the way they moved

Did anybody play it on the PS3? I know apparently the PS3 version is supposed to be inferior to the 360 one but I wanted to know if that was really noticeable to anyone.

I guess the pop in is worse and the graphics aren't as sharp but supposedly the frame-rate is better on the PS3 according to the Lens of Truth.

Anybody who have played this on the PS3 and not the 360 notice these problems enough to hurt your overall enjoyment of the game?

I played the PS3 demo last night and enjoyed it. I might try to pick it up eventually. One thing's for sure though - I will NOT be playing on hard or insane mode!
