Why should I have to deal with a character not being offered by my favorite custom 1/6 maker because some unknown (and I'm speaking in general) with no track record decides to make it first and then try to stake a claim on the clothing and why it cant be replicated.
Frankly, I'm not sure why you feel you are entitled to anything here. If Rainman wants to establish an exclusive relationship with his tailor, then he may be able to orchestrate such an arrangement. If his tailor chooses to change her rule about not doing clothing more than once, she is free to do so. But as it stands, what you say is apparently true. Why should you have to deal with it? Because that's the way it is, and you don't really have any choice that I can see.

It really comes down to the agreement between the the person seeking the commission and the tailor. If it is stipulated that the particular clothing cannot be re-issued to another client and the tailor agrees to it, then that is between them. Obviously we are not dealing with patents here, but that is what the protection is for. I don't want to see items taken off the table because there was an agreement not to reproduce an item, but if it were done, I understand why.

I don't care so much about exclusivity, so I'm actually with you greatlakes. But if this is the way his tailor works, and if she is open to taking commissions on the side, then there's nothing to be done apart from maybe trying to lobby her to change her methods. Cursing the heavens about it won't change things.

So what are his Rainman Artworks customers left to do if everyone starts using his tailor for popular characters? Whats not fair game about having the clothing replicated when its his resource thats being used to begin with? What incentive is there in getting it from you instead of Rainman? How does this not open up a pandoras box of potential fraud or scams if anyone can just contract this tailor, throw the name around and use it as possibke bait for customers who might go into this blind because they know and trust the talent but don't really know the people "producing" it?

Yes - She, like everyone, can choose what suits her, and who she wants to work for... no big deal here....No real issue. atm she does not prefer to repeat an order for another if it has already been commissioned - fair enough... I would like a Lost boys too! - but thats how it goes....

The only issue I see that could be a potential problem is that if Yunsil becomes such a hot commodity that Rainman has to wait in line to get projects done, then we all suffer. He may have an exclusive with her, being that she will take care of his orders first or put him ahead of others. I can't imagine what would happen if RM was doing a project and found out she was three months backed up.

Frankly I think the sculpt was lacking. I think the definitive Deckard is still to be released. Not saying Rainman would be the one to do it, but I would love to see him try. I do think Rainman did some of those accessories though? So it probably won't happen anyway. Putting that aside, in hindsight I regret picking that one up, but alas.

I doubt anyone else would handle a full set deckard better. IMO ,VM's quality is on par with RM

That whole entitled argument is garbage. Whats more entitled than saying your going to one off commission clothing and stake a claim that it can only be bought through you, while using a resource thats already a well established fan favorite with many customers who are used to getting it another way thats proven and trustworthy.

I highly doubt that.

Rainman is good for how many clothing sets?

Any of us want to private commission her we are talking minimum orders and up front cash.

Rainman has a proven track record and can afford to be fronted 35-55-70 clothing sets, because his stuff will sell out.

I doubt she will put anyone ahead of Rainman.

But we are talking about a full figure - not a clothing run. The clothing runs are part of the full figure releases... They need clothing...:lol

I'm sure we are (correct me if I am wrong) all talking about someone producing a figure, using a tailor (that, atm won't reproduce someone elses commission) - so that particular 'look' is exclusive to that particular figure release - which seems fair if you ask me.

The tailor has a business - she is not exclusive to RM...:lecture

THIS.:goodpost:

She will work out her schedule to suit her orders.

I doubt it too, but it could happen. Those who are near the best at what they do are in high demand. I'm not referring to one of us putting in an order, I'm talking about another company who might want her services.

Considering his tailor and accessories seem to have been used here, you're probably right :D

Well, if someone were to commission something to this effect, then they would, in fact, be entitled to whatever was agreed upon. Just like, if I agree to fix a guy's shed for X number of dollars, then I'm "entitled" to that money when the shed is done.

But you ask, "why should I have to deal with. . ." it is because you are NOT, in fact, entitled to anything regarding the way Rainman or his tailor work, unless you negotiate an independent contract with them that runs counter to standard practice.

As for a potential for fraud, that is a specter whenever someone without a track record is involved (and as we have seen in the custom world for many years, it is often a sad fact even with trusted boardies). The specific connection to Rainman or his tailor doesn't change the equation.

I ended up going with the H & C Soldier set and will need a pair of Randolph's. I modded the Blitzway Carlito's Way with a clear coated adjustable wired earpiece. This is how they came out.

Oh wow! Those look good, qbomb. I have a pair of those I got from Toy Anxiety. I'm getting a DX set, but this is a good alternative. Might look better than the rainman ones. :monkey1:monkey3 We'll see.

Thanks fellas. I appreciate it. I am really happy with how they turned out.
