Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

DXX all day!

I think that it's fine to make the list Turbo. I guess you could add everyone that just spoke up unless you want another show of hands now that the price is closer to confirmed.

Shorty's out on it. He doesn't like the idea :lol

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Hi guys,
I need to make one correction.

What he meant to say was that his DX is usually priced at $1000 but for this release it is estimated at $1300

No price for full set yet but you can assume that it will range from $800-$1000 for fullset offering.

Yes, these are the numbers that he confirmed with me on order to get the DXX rolling. Expect $1500-1600 for the DXX.

I told you guys.... I said that days ago about pricing.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Turbo .. Count me in for the DXX

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I know I'm in the minority, but I would really prefer the long haired look with the bomber jacket, so I would love to see a head/outfit option where we might be able to pick just that up without dropping $1,200.

I think we might be the only two who prefer that look. :cuckoo:

Got it,

Here is a the list I have that is the potential client list for his DXX offering. Remember guys this is the big one $1500 all in!

Neo Geo
PopcultKid
Darthmagnus
turbo.vs.ozone
Mystolle
Pajji
Senbi575
JeffTVR
transhi100

mightyQ

This is a backbone list to demonstrate that we are solid on this.
If you do not see your name on that list but your at least 80% sure you want everything that will be offered than chime in.

I think they hint at hm, but it isn't screaming Deniro to me yet. When I squint a bit, I can see him. We'll see when more pics of the sculpt are revealed.

BTW, next Rainman figure has to be Albert Brooks with an afro.

I'm squinting at the 1st version and I do see a little more DeNiro. The 2nd version, I still see Bruce Willis from the eyes down.

Depends when this goes up for sale.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Can you ask him about edition sizes? Being completely honest here... I am interested in the DX since I prefer the long hair to the mohawk! But I have very little interest in the gun slide so probably no DXX for me if the price difference is going to be about $300. And if I can't grab a DX, then it'll probably be a H&C set for me. I'm really hoping he just creates even more DXX without compromising the edition size for the DX.

Well said :exactly:

That's fine. There are going to be other customers who are interested in this. The list I'm compiling is of customers who are serious about getting this done. I can speak for myself in saying I'm already fully commited to this. When you look at this overall, custom chest, 2 sculpts, silver buckle and so on.....it's a winner. That custom chest piece is :drool. No where on planet earth can we get this now but from him, Not yet at least. :lol

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I think too many here believe that Rainman is setting the prices on his figures. In actuality, we are setting the prices.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Why are we setting prices for RM, he should just decide. After many years of doing this, and seeing how much his figures fetch in the aftermarket, he should have confidence that if he released a very high end DXX or DXXX or whatever, there will likely be enough demand as long as he isn't asking for 3K a figure or something obviously crazy (not talking about after market, talking about initial release).

I think all this discussion about the price is a little unnecessary and ultimately could just drive prices up more than it needs to; its like we are doing "figure speculation" in an unstable market.

Anyways...not belittling RM or calling out anyone in particular...just some thoughts.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Guys, with respect to your comments. Can we please, for now just keep to the task at hand. I'm working really hard to get you guys everything neccessary for this. Please let's leave the aftermarket or price discussions for when the smoke clears on this.

There's truth in that but he does set the prices to a large degree too. It's not only about what we're willing to pay; material and man-hours play a big part along with other factors (what he deems that his man-hours are worth is another story :lol). In 5 years he increased a bit saying that material went up but around when he started he was selling $650 figures while Kojun was selling his for $1400+. Thank god RM never took it there because that's when I quit :lol

EDIT: Sorry JP..... I'm focused :wink1:

I hope he makes it clear what head/outfit sets will entail prior to the DXXXXXs and whatnot going up. If both outfits are available, I can actually see modding a sculpt to add the hair myself (or commissioning someone to do it) to get both looks for less than the full set is likely to cost.

Kojun just sell 30 full sets and doesnt have, painted heads, unpainted heads etc. also he normally sculpt and paint the hands and have custom figure stand.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I wonder if this will translate to $250+ headsculpts, and $700+ clothing sets??? for all the DXXXXXX crowd, you might be doing everyone else a disservice.

I wouldn't worry too much about that brother. That's not what's happening here and that's not a direction that anyone wants to see this all go. Even RM is expressing a concern about raising the price because he's worried how people will take it. As Turbo stated he wants to make sure that it's ok with us 'this one time' and is trying to make it clear that it's not going to become the norm.

What you're mentioning is the standard price of certain items going up but that's not the case here. We're getting the same size sets for the usual price and I'm sure painted & unpainted sculpts will be the usual $$$. A couple of packages are increased because they are including more than usual; that's only natural.

I'm actually glad to see him willing to do this.

Oooooh...that's where the extra $700 went :lecture

Doesn't RM sculpt & paint the heads too?
