Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

you know what...you are right...if i can get my hands on a H+Clothing set...then thats what i will prolly end up going with...i just won't get the glasses, the extra head...and the super duper DDX exclusive...sucks for me as i am a completist but i have been coming to grips with my spending...i have to...i've been falling into this rabbit hole too long...i'll just watch to see how far the price wars go up....

i will say this...if RM implemented some sort of a payment plan system...i would jump on board....but taking 1/4 of my monthly income is actually CRAZY as i type this...not to mention with the other costs for the other retail items i have on PO...wow....

My name is Joel....and I have a collecting problem...lol

If anyone who has posted in this thread, even the critics of price, goes to theFwoosh.com and talks about how much they've spent on figures, they will be seen as a complete nut job.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Ok Guys,
Here is where we are with this. I've been in direct contact with Rainman with the help of my Korean translator negotiating the final specs of this project. If anyone needs to see our correspondance for transparency on this, and can read korean, pm me and I will gladly show you our conversation. These are the points Rainman would like to make clear.

1) The gunslide accessory is a very difficult accessory to make and he has some concerns about it. The primary concern is fit, he would need to fit it to a specific arms bodytype, which will be what body he ultimately decides to use. Since it is a very fragile piece to make it will require the costs to be raised to cover his manufacturing costs inorder to make it "good" as he says it. He is concerned that if he raises the price for this it will send the wrong message and hurt his reputation with customers who complain about price. It can be made "I can make best in the world" but he must incur the costs inorder to effectively make it possible.

2) He is very concerned about the complaining and fighting. He wants to make his art figures fair for everyone, but its difficult for him to find a good balance when Fullset buyers want DX items for Fullset prices. He says that there is a price range for everyone unfortunately inorder to create certain pieces he has to contract certain resorces and that involves time and cost, but if we are willing to accept the neccessary price hike, then it can happen and he has no problem making the gunslide. "He can make best"

3) He wants us to understand that we should look at things from his perspetive as well, not to ask just ask for somthing and not assume that it is not difficult process to make. We should really repect that his effort is always to make his customers happy, but that the costs of producing certain things is a reality. If we are prepared to adjust "not always" but for certain special items, then he can make it happen.

I am going to call him tonight with a potential list of committed DXX buyers that are interested and commited to see this gunslide made. I have already at least 8 people whom I spoke to personally that are in. If you are also intereted in at least having the option of getting a DXX please post nothing more than I'm interested in DXX. Thats it.

Guys we need to work together on this one. I realize that there will be complaints and disagreements, All Rainman wants to do is put out a great product, but in order for us to get certain things made, he needs to cover his costs, bottom line. I am in agreement with him and he has expressed that he can do it "make best in world" but we also need to invest just a little more in this specific project. It isa special one, its his 5th Anniversary and there are resonable pricepoints for everyone. Lets all work together, and lets get it done.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I'm on the fence for a DXX option.

Depends on price
I pretty much committed to going DX on this guy, but even that would hinge on sculpt. If the sculpt is great, if the body is right, and if everything else feels like it justifies the price, then I would consider it. But I would expect much much more than a typical DX release if it's going to cost 50% more or so.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

depends on price....but i would be interested....

ask him about the payment suggestion...

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I am in for a DXX too, a 5th anniversary celebration of buying Rainman figures!

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

You know I'm in for the DXX ©. I'm not too worried about the price but my commitment is pending on the sculpt.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I don't think there is a clear line in the sand for acceptable vs. unacceptable custom prices anymore..

There is a standard that all things are based off of though and every artist/customizer in the community both creates and revolves around that standard. What WGP, Rocco, Robbie, Elvis, Beto, Iminime, Serang, Rainman...(so on & so on) charge all have a lot to do with each other.

As far as this release goes, the price hike should be expected. If the standard price for a FS has become $820 & $1000 for a DX and this time there are extras included.... then it's going to be more money :dunno

Now what I'd like to see it priced at... well that's another thing. If the DX is adding a shirt and a jacket and the DXX is adding the gun slide + Escort, I don't mind and expect a price hike, but I hope it's reasonable for what the additions are
