So most of us agree Rainman should be allowed to make his own choice for the next few releases at least and then proceed to throw out pictures of wants............

You should feel comfortable speaking freely to us and tell us how you feel. Thanks for being straight forward with everyone.
Some of us are aware of shrinkage and deformation during casting, even if most of us don't understand it fully, we are aware; so we get what you are saying.
Please don't get too offend by your fans' expectations. You're one of the best in the business so of course we will have a level of expectations! We understand your side and feelings on the subjects that come up in your threads; please try to understand some of ours (the rational ones at least

It's hard to think that this isn't exactly what's going on.
Rainman has his feelings on certain matters but it's only fair that he understands ours too. He is taking on these projects based on suggestions from his fan base. It's obvious that he is nowhere near as in tuned with the source material as the die-hards that he making these figures FOR (which is all part of the "art colliding with business" ongoing talk). Because of this I absolutely feel that he needs input and suggestions. I don't think that any true fan of any given character would be completely happy with the end result if we just suggested what character to do next, and let him run with it without adding our input. Forget about the sculpt or likeness traits; there would be other inaccuracies and important bits left out whether it be outfit, accessories, whatever.
There is not only a disconnect with the source material, there is a disconnect with the mind of the collector. Not only does he not fully understand the character, he doesn't fully understand how we feel about the character, what we find important to the character and why. Picture what the final build up would be if this was entirely left up to him. It wouldn't be anywhere near the complete, well rounded package that it is right now. We already know there wouldn't be a gun slide & shades. No gun slide and shades for a high end 1/6 Travis Bickle figure?!?!?!
(But I guess wanting a high end figure to be well rounded, COMPLETE with the essentials and to be the definitive production of said character [and willing to pay more to make it happen] makes me entitled elitist swine. GTFOH

I understand his concerns on breakages but quite honestly I can't get behind him not wanting to do these important items because of his worry. All he has to do is package them for shipping more carefully. He could easily use his head sculpt boxes and pack them separately instead of inside the figure box.
I always wanted to see RM tackle Raoul Duke but honestly it's all the happenings of late that's starting to make me think that Duke's not up his ally. He's being pretty clear on what he wants to include in the build up for the standard price. Duke is another accessory heavy (some fragile), possibly body specific character. If the character choice suggestion method continues in the future, maybe we should keep it simpler. Characters that are more straight forward with 3-4 accessories seem to be his thing; it doesn't seem like he wants to get tied up with anything more involved. This way expectations won't be thru the roof, he won't have to kill himself to meet those expectations, and he could easily offer well-rounded, complete sets that cover all the essentials.
Please no one misunderstand me either; this is not meant to be offensive. I’m just plainly speaking about the pretty evident writing on the wall.
All we could do is make suggestions about accessories that we want to be included. What are we supposed to do about the head sculpt?
As serious buyers, our job is just about done after we show our interest. After the count of hands, it's up to an artist to take the project on or not. After that it's in their hands to understand the expectations of all those interested. If the product lives up to the expectations, then all the serious buyers from the beginning will put their money where their mouth is in the end. All we could do is show our serious interest; after that the ball is all in the artists' court

All that fuss about the glasses and sling, when we should have been worrying about was the head sculpt.
I hope this is lesson learned for some.

On a brighter note I'm really happy that he's tackling Bickle to the fullest. The build up sounds great, all tastes are covered and everything shown so far looks insane. The sculpt has its areas where it could've been improved but not a deal breaker for me. I'd hope that a better paint app for the eyes is on the horizon, but if not there are capable hands around that could fix that to my liking.

The best way to handle that area would have been with texture and then the stubble paint app applied on top. It's hard to see in that pic if that bumpy type shaved head texture is there; I hope it is. I have no doubt that he'll stubble up all necessary areas though

Hope rainman adds 'stubble' to the shaved hair parts too. Doesn't look like it has it there?

Also if I want to sell something in Japan, wouldn't behoove me to learn Japanese? I think learning to speak French is a good idea if I open a store in Paris, don't you? I guess people want to make me seem like a villain today. There was nothing inflammatory about my statement.

Normally the vote with your wallet theory applies, but not here. If you have a clientele of 100 people and make 75 of an item and half the people have an issue with it, whether it be the item itself or price, then you very quickly get the message when 25% of your stock is sitting unsold. But when we are talking about an item with a run of let's say 30 and half of your 75 don't like it, the item will sell out anyway. The message is never received because so few are available. Even though many may shy away from Bickle, there are plenty who will scoup it up quickly.
