I don't mind the sculpt actually. I can see alot of Jules:dunno

But for $800 a pop, I'm sure it can be 'tweaked' until we are all happy.
And yes, I also think the hair is too controlled for a frizz that it is...

I though the messier facial hair would be something that would be better realized with a combo of paintwork and sculpting rather than just straight up sculpting, facial hair that isn't as thick like Jules seems a very hard thing to sculpt accurately

Those curls can be sculpted. I've seen crude sculpt jobs that look decent, so a master sculptor would have considered that. You wnot have that extra fuzz hanging from the goatee but the Kink/Curley hair should have been sculpted. That's way to straight and sharp. It looks like Sam Jackson Shaft! Is he referencing Shaft but with those lamb
chop sideburns?

I personally think the likeness is acceptable. However the facial hair is wrong, it doesnt seem like he used any reference pics at all when he sculpted the facial hair, but more of what he remembered when he was watxhing the movie?

Appart from the too thick mustache and the inaccurate nike swoosh shaped sideburns, the texture of the beard is too straight and not wavy/curly like what African American are supposed to have.

It looks like rainman missed the soul patch too.

Could someone email him side and frontal pic of jules that shows the shape of the facial hair.

Current flaws on the sculpt that i noticed:

Eye bag too puffy
Nose shape is pronnounced and tall
Chin is a tad too sharp, need to be more horizontal
The cheekbone need a bit more work

For a WIP this is fine, unless RM doesn't release early WIP pics (meaning that this is close to final). I think the hair will bring the likeliness higher, right now its a little misleading. The sharp facial hair will surely be fixed...RM is smarter than that...right?

Same thought here.

Jules is a must buy for me. Can't wait to see RM's further modification on the sculpt.

Personally I think this is getting closer. It's much better than the Mac, Octopus or Fury IMO. There is no way anyone would be able to get the texture of the hair and sideburns accurate by sculpting which is why I liked the idea of a change-o hair or wig (and would still welcome having the option). The mustache and sideburns can still be thinned out and roughed up somewhat, the bags are too prominent, the eyes should be wider, and the nose needs some additional shaping, but all in all this is getting there.

At least you guys should've let the man show what he had in mind.:dunno
Rainman collectors allowing Rainman to actually have some artistic license, instead of trying to make this a custom by a committee? Perish the thought. . .having said that, I was one lobbying against real hair :lol

Real hair and real facial hair, or real hair and sculpted facial hair?

Right now the facial hair is a make or break for me. Id be passing if thats the facial hair shape and texture wed be getting

My concern was with the head hair. Beto's Beetlejuice is gonna be the only figure with "real" hair in my collection, and the only one I ever hope to have apart from maybe a Teen Wolf one of these days. I am willing to accept artistic license from Rainman in ways that others make more noise about regarding sculpt, but that hair might have been a deal breaker from my standpoint. He sculpted Wonka's sidesburns though, so I'm not sure if that was ever on the table for Rainman as a "real" hair option.

I think he did a great job at tackling the problems people were having with the facial hair, looks good so far can't wait to see this finished!
