Not necessarily. And if there is a savings, it is probably rather insignificant - not the $200-300 price drop that you are suggesting (with a RM FS being ~$800 and an Iminime FS being ~$500).

Actually this ordering method might even translate into a lower DX and DXX order. Due to people not being pressured at a moments notice to purchase immediately before being cart jacked or panic of a sell out . They now have the time to decide on what is reasonably priced for them and is Jack a character they definitely want.

Torrance is not Bill the Butcher or Doc Holliday, someone dropping over 1k on Jack will most likely be true admirers of the movie. With it open ended for 24 hours this also thwarts flippers from purchasing sets just to resale.

In all actuality he might sell more head sculpts than anything, it's a basic clothing set up that can be bashed. Lee has almost hit the mark on limited quantiles so a handful more might not even make a difference in the edition size.

Iminime does a good job making items available for lengths of time and people are still buying them after market with mark ups.

It does not thwart flippers because now potential flippers will come out of the woodwork to buy this, at least a set edition like usual makes it more difficult for that to happen. A 24 hour sale doesn't solve anything. Supply will never truly meet the demand so is a sacrifice in quality worth it? Some of his clients who appreciated the limited nature of the art are surely turned off by this new open end idea. People would have to be naive to think that the possibility that quality will not drop drastically doesn't exist under this new scenario. Comparing an increase from 15 to 20-30 figures for The Dude is in no way equal to an open 24 hour sale for a character that could very well attract hundreds of orders.

How bored will Rainman get with having to paint hundreds of sculpts etc, etc. or work on this for a period of months maybe even YEARS! It's takes him about 4 months the old way!
He's human.....there's no way he's going to have the same energy for the process and the TLC is simply not going to be there.

I enjoy rainman pieces I recently got the V2 butcher which I'm looking forward to displaying..... I enjoyed owning peewee which I passed on.
I've bought from Lee before I have the wonka sculpts and audrey hepburn along with few others.

Jack Torrance is going to be a really nice piece however I don't see it being like Bill the butcher and plainview.
I really thought his Taxi driver set was outstanding and couldn't understand why everyone sold it.......but let's face it Jack is going to be awesome but I'd like to see his take on marlon brando Godfather!

Iminime has one painter and they manage just fine.

Hundreds...!!! That's ridiculous and also you keep speaking as if you've seen the final results. I would have thought you'd wanted an open ended month to place your order, as 24hrs is no good to you. You have too many people to refund for a t-shirt before you can even think about buying this.

I'm with you on Brando Godfather!

My $.02 on this situation? Meh. Whatever Lee thinks is best for him is what's best for us. I'm sure this will still be a rare piece and be able to be sold for, minimum, what we paid. Flippers will always be there. Can't do anything about that. As long as quality doesn't drop off, I think we'll all be happy in the end.

People collect for different reasons and you can't say one is right or wrong. For me, the appeal of the hobby is chasing something that's limited and hard to get. Part of the thrill is waiting for the moment the figure releases and experiencing the cart jackings until finally landing one. It makes it that much more special to me. It's sad to see this hobby evolve in this direction if I'm being honest. Some might say it's selfish but it was a part of the hobby I really enjoyed. It is what it is though.

Stop the personal insults etc. Cleaned & infracted. Thanks.

If you can infract me for that then what can be said. The guy starts racist slurs, and always brings negativity everywhere he goes. You infract me for what i said in that post you messaged me................. ridiculous.

Don't infract me............... just BAN me. I'll live. Pathetic.

You received an infraction for bypassing our language filter. Clearly very deliberately. It's not really up for discussion. Just accept it. I recommend that the two of you take a break away from this thread right away.

So, back on topic. If it's gonna be open ended, it should be for the entire offering (Jack, Danny with Trike, Twins). I think those who are really interested in supporting the entire effort shouldn't have to deal with any hastle's of possibly missing out.

A Fair Compromise for all would be:
12 hours open for Grand Package ONLY. Everything else sold his usual way with VIP orders followed by the General Public release.

Making the Grand Package the only offering to be painted exclusively by Rainman would also be nice if production is going to be higher than usual on these. I'd like to atleast see that.

Should i mention pricing to lee with the 24 hour thing?

Go for it Joe. I'd say the Grand package open ended process makes most sense. Price will deter some and it will yield much more realistic edition numbers in my opinion.
Maybe even bring up the painting option as well. Let's try to find some resolve with how to keep the standards of this artform intact without having to deal with this new influx of garbage.

Agreed! Im with you On Taxi Driver!:hi5:

Not a terrible proposal, turbo. I'm indifferent either way but I could see something like that keeping most folk happy. I actually just thought, for the grand mega plex package, will there be payment option( say half now half a month from date of purchase) or will to be straight up pay it all before 7 days?

payment plan not a bad idea for the option to buy everything. Especially during the holidays, wallets get a little thin...or is that just me? :)

One way to appease VIP's or concerns over quality issues, is to have Lee paint a limited amount himself and the rest done by Aeon. The true limited edition will be based on his hand painted sculpts.

People will be so pissed off if they pay $800 and don't get a Rainman painted head

YES PAYMENT PLAN!!!!
FLEX PAY.

Jeez...we already had one artist say he was going to stop making figures partly because he felt too many people were telling him how to run his business. You would thing we would learn a lesson. Buy it or don't buy it. Either way the world keeps rotating.
