Elysium:
Went to a screening last night. Enjoyed it, but some of the plot was very circumstantial (I know, that is how most movies are...something about this one just bugged me about it. Might have had to do with the quick screen edits and changes from location to location).

Beautiful scenery and camerawork, although some of the fights suffer from quick edit and Matrix slow-mo syndrome.

Some cool unexpected plot twists. Wish the mech suit functionality was featured more. Hoping for a directors cut that expands on the scenes and world.

Zero Dark Thirty ... 8/10. My biggest complaint is the lighting on the raid. There were parts that were so dark that you couldn't make out what, if anything, was going on. It was just a black screen. Which sucks since its the part you've been waiting to see.

Otherwise, great movie.

Zero Dark Thirty ... 8/10. My biggest complaint is the lighting on the raid. There were parts that were so dark that you couldn't make out what, if anything, was going on. It was just a black screen. Which sucks since its the part you've been waiting to see.

Agree completely!

What should have been a wonderful climax ended up being a disappointment for me. I really enjoyed the move but like you, I struggled to make out quite a bit of the raid.

They were incredible, I agree, but Mcconaughey is the star for sure.

Still my favourite film of 2013 by far. Highly doubt it will be surpassed this year for me.

Enjoyed this quite a bit. The action was spectacular and the FX looked completely natural. I did not like Jodie Foster in this. Her performance just did not seem up to her usual par. But Damon and Copley were both very good. The flashbacks were also too many and unnecessary. But all in all a good science fiction film that I look forward to revisiting.
