Captain Philips - 8/10

Pretty good. The pirates were played convincingly but I watched it for Tom Hanks, he's always great. Another of those actors whose films I'll watch because he's in them. His last scene was brilliantly played, so realistic. The pent-up tension and shock coming out, rendering him almost childlike, which situations like in this film would do to a normal person.

Real navy docs and unscripted scene :lecture

Same, I really liked it.

Just disregard Dickard's awful taste in film.

:lol

Killing them Softly was great!!!!! It shows a different perspective of the mob. And how the mob acts when in a recession. These guys truly think they are decent men, everything they do is just business. And then throw in the political allegory, it is truly one of the best films I ever seen. Scoot Mcnairy and Ben Mendelsohn were incredible. And that ending, is one of the best I ever seen. I think you will enjoy it more every time you watch it.

Yeah I guess I was just expecting something else, which is my problem and not the film's. I think I will probably enjoy it more a second time knowing the scope of the story.

All is Lost 8/10

A really good film from start to finish. For a film that doesn't 'say a lot'', it managed to keep me fully engaged.

Robert Redford turns in a subtly, brilliant performance!

The only downside which prevented me from giving it a higher score........was the end. I would have preferred to have seen the end finish about 5-10 minutes before it did. The end felt like a cliche cop-out and didn't really fit with the tone of the entire film. I think the most favorable ending, befitting the tone of the movie, would have been 'him' sitting there contemplating the end. I think it should have been left to the viewer as to whether he survives or not.

Yea, everything about the marketing made is seem like so badass mob action film. They really messed up doing that.

Killing Them Softly is a great film! I definitely enjoyed it a lot more second time round. I was definitely expecting something quite different when I caught this for the first time at the cinema. The studio should be prosecuted under the 'Trades Description Act' on account of the trailers.

The thing (original) 8/10, ages since I last saw it.

Paranormal Activity: The marked ones 7/10 I'm probably one of the few left that isn't sick of found footage :lol it was a pretty fun movie, in it's own right, way better than the last one, cholos vs witches, what can I say? :yess:
