I rate Aliens higher because I would tend to watch it more often. Both are classics. I just think Cameron did such a commendable job of following up on a great original film. Its very hard to do.

I rank both movies equally at a 9/10, and I agree. It seems to be very difficult to follow up on a spectacular movie. Too many have failed trying.

Thor 2 - 8/10

I was surprised by how good this was. Poor Natalie Portman though, what an absolute waste of talent she is in these movies.

Dolemite - 10 karate whores/10

If you're ever having a particularly ****** day, get yourself a pizza, grab a cold one and pop this on. You'll be smiling ear to ear from start to finish.

Robrocop 8/10 it was pretty good, I felt it really tried to homage the original more than insult it as the trailers and featurettes lead us to believe, the guy playing Murphy did a great job, Oldman and Keaton were meh, ok, the supporting cast wasn't memorable at all, nor the villains too personal enough to cheer against them, the updated politics and social issues really didn't make the film feel more current nor relevant, the original still beats this one at that, and many other things, visually speaking it has nothing on the original, but what this one does very good is setting itself apart from the original.

It was a respectful reboot, if there's a sequel, I'll gladly watch it, just because of Robocop himself, the character is very likable.

Surprisingly, a lot of people seem to like the reboot. I guess I'll give it a watch. And by the way, lol @ "Robrocop" :lol.

I have to say, I keep noticing one thing. Everyone gives it a 7 or 8/10 but than their review is like 80 percent negative. Poor villains, meh story, crap costumes, doesn't live upto the original, not memorable.

So... just curious why it's a 7/8 exactly? :lol

it just strikes me as one of those movies who's score is going to continue to steadily drop as people realise it has no rewatchability. Granted I haven't seen it but like I said, that describes every review I've read and I'm not seeing what about that warrants a way above average only 2 points from perfect movie. Hell I only give the original a 9/10.

Yeah, it's worth at least one screening.

Yeah, that's the thing, I don't feel it's too re watchable, because, apart from Robocop himself, there's nothing much else to watch, maybe Oldman and Mattox.

It does have many redeeming qualities, there's a scene in particular, that really removed all my prejudices about the guy being just "a guy in a rubber suit", it was a brilliant scene, the sociopolitical aspect isn't more compelling than the original, BUT it is more compelling than most action flicks these days.

Yea like everyone says the Murph frankenstein scene is great but then I read the rest of their reviews and there seems to be nothing redeeming so I'm just genuinely wondering what sets it apart on it's own merits(without making comparisons) and makes it so awesome is all.

I'll see it eventually when it's free on HBO or something but from what I'm hearing I'm not even expecting it to top 2 which gets an overly bad rap..

Well, it's own merits... I'm gonna say Murphy himself, he's different from the original Murphy but he is still a badass, likable, and a very capable character, the movie managed this very well, in some moments, he was more machine than man, and in others he was still more man than machine, it's worth watching for Murphy alone.

It also has a lot of underachieved potential, i.e. I wish they would've used ED209 better.

Yea was different I'm not a fan of the original i liked this take on the character but that's just my opinion.

Meh, I just recently watched the original all the way through for the first time and wasn't impressed. It doesn't at all compare to the other sci-fi/action/horror films of that decade like Alien(s), Predator and Terminator.

I'd probably give it a 6/10 or so.

I think it's because the people that actually gave the movie a chance and discovered that it's actually good might feel that they can't give it too much praise or else they will be branded a hater of the original.

You know what? It's ok to like both!

RoboCop (1987) - 9/10
RoboCop (2014) - 8/10
