The kingsman - 9/10. Very enjoyable and refreshing take on the spy genre, quite funny too. Bought this after watching.

The Babadook - 6/10 The movie started strong and stayed quite creepy and interesting for a solid hour. While I understand the metaphor at play in this film, the ending was quite laughable to me and really should have been rewritten. The child actor started out creepy but became annoying by the end. Still, on the strength of the first hour alone it is worth seeing.

Ex Machina - 7.5/10 Very entertaining sci-fi that never drops the ball. While many of the twists are predictable, I didn't care.

The Cobbler - 6.5/10. A decent Sandler film that could have been even better if it went for a less upbeat more sentimental ending. Still enjoyable to watch, if only to marvel at Sandler not completely wasting 90+ minutes of film.

For those that have seen The Cobbler...
I thought the "super hero" ending was just wrong in tone for this movie. I would have like to have seen Hoffman say his peace to his son and simply leave the store. Sandler could have followed him outside, only to see people he didn't recognize because his father managed to slip on another pair of shoes and disappear into the crowd. To me, this would have given the film the poignant ending it was crying out for.

Insidious 3 - 8/10 why these movies have such a low scores online is beyond me.

I love the spectral realm in this franchise, very metaphysical, I love some of the camera work in this movie, the make up and practical FX, all that stuff, fantastic.

Pace is ok, it builds up quite nicely, eventually the main characters for me aren't the actual protagonists but Elise and her 2 nerds who turn out to be actual characters, Elise is this Ripley-esque hero for sure :lol

I look forward to the next one and I hope the real protagonists are Elise and the 2 nerds.
I thought the first one was generic & dumb, sorry. Rose is a mega babe though.

Enter The Ninja (1981) -- 6 / 10

The beginning credits sequence with Sho Kosugi doing his demo is excellent, it really envokes that classic era feeling of when these cult films were at their best. I love Sho Kosugi. :rock The training sequence is cool too.

The rest is a mixed bag. The white martial arts guy (Franco Nero) taking on the mob in Manilla, & ultimately winning.. is lame. Poor man's Chuck Norris syndrome. horrible acting & dialogue as you'd expect, & the comic relief baddie was atrocious.

Still, it has it's merits as a decent classic martial arts flick.
