True, and deservedly so; I meant more in terms of the big awards like performances, picture and director. Silence of the Lambs is still the only best picture winning horror movie.

Amazing how much controversy surrounded that film, and it still cleaned house with so many awards.

It's a thriller with a smart use of horror elements. Don't know why there was so much controversy around it.

The Exorcist was nominated for all the big categories (Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor and Actress) but lost to The Sting. It still won Best Adapted Screenplay.

JAWS was nominated for Best Picture as well.

But yes, Silence was the first one to actually win.

Not only that, but Silence came out in February and still managed to win at the Oscars. An amazing feat considering most Oscar movies come out in November so that hey stay fresh in voters minds. It had a whole year to fade from memory, but didn't.

It is a very memorable movie.

I like to play a game at the end where
I keep my eye on Lecter walking away for as long as possible. The best I've ever done was when he was a just a tiny hat in the middle of the crowd

Fantastic 4 - 2/10 story was rushed and Dr. Doom face looked like crap.

Vacation - 7/10 - enjoyed it

The Breakfast Club - 4/5

Just a great classic 80s movie that we all could relate to in some way. It makes me feel a bit happy that my teenage years are long behind me, along with social and parental pressures.

Chef - 9.5/10

Never heard of this one, but Netflix said we'd like it. Not a lot happens but the characters felt so real that it was just a blast to watch.
