Ghost in the shell - 9/10 I can't wait for the live action movie to crap all over this.

Btw, can anyone recommend some pre-2000's anime, kinda like this one? Sci-fi/action. Thanks!

Not action packed, but the Patlabor movies are good. They are kind of a slow burn but I like the mystery angle they take. The third one is more like a thriller/horror monster film but not gory like you'd expect.

Battle Angel Alita and Armitage III Polymatrix are also good if you are looking for cyborg girls who kick butt.

BTW, which version of Ghost in the Shell did you watch? There the original version(1995) and there's the 2.0(2008) version.

Thanks, I'll add those to the list, BAA and Armitage look pretty good.

I love cyborg girls kicking ass, Gunslinger Girl is probably my favorite.

Yeah I know, I can't stand 2.0, I don't think I've ever watched it in its entirety actually, I can't stand 3D CG in 2D animation in general, which is why I refuse to watch the new movie, but I will someday probably, SAC was kinda hard for me to watch as a kid because of that, but other than that it aged pretty well.

The 1995 movie is kinda like MGS1 for me, it only goes down in quality with each new entry.

The Seven Year Itch (1955) - 7/10

For you kiddos it's the Marilyn Monroe movie that Willem Dafoe spoofed at the Super Bowl. Cute little blast from the bast. Funny that the famous "subway vent" scene is when she and Tom Ewell stop for a second on the sidewalk after watching "Creature from the Black Lagoon" at the theater. I bet the part when he said "Who do you think I've got in my kitchen, Marilyn Monroe??" got a big laugh from audiences at the time.

Watership Down (1978) - 7.5/10

Damn, they don't make mainstream American cartoons like this anymore. By far the bloodiest and most violent movie my kids have seen to date. It was probably a good 35 years ago that I watched it as a child and some of the scenes are still burned into my brain. We'll see if it holds true for them too. :lol

Drive (2011) - 9/10

An 80s style noire flick, with the elegance and simplicity of a Grand Theft Auto game. I haven't seen Ryan Gosling in a lot of movies. But, he was the perfect, cold-blooded anti-hero in this flick - portraying a calm resolve with just the right amount of emotional delivery. This movie just did it for me.

Hateful 8: 8/10
I thought it was great. Kurt Russel was amazing. The Maddix guy was also really good. I loved the language throughout. Beautifully written and I could easily see it as a theatrical production. The music was great—the oscar was well deserved. I did find it got a little excessively gory, but I guess I just had to go along with it. And I thought Michael Madsen was kinda bad in this and took me out of the movie with his poor acting.

The Big Short: 8/10
It was good. But again (I thought this of Spotlight), I wonder how much of the praise was solely for the subject matter? I thought the movie waffled a bit too much between comedy and satire and drama, so it ended up feeling a bit uneven. Great performances all around, particularly Ryan Gosling. It did help me understand the situation much better.

I take it you're into Hotline Miami right now? Isn't that game just ****ing perfect? And it's awesome in combination with Drive.

Yeah, I've been playing Hotline Miami for the past two weeks. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but oh man, is that game sweet in all the right ways. I love the 80's style synth tracks, the art direction, and Jacket's just a ****ing badass. I just really wish his "Richard" personality came out a lot more.

The funny thing is, I decided to pimp out my Das Keyboard 4 with "Miami Vice" themed keycaps about three weeks ago (the colors are as obnoxious as they look) :lol. Then, shortly after, I discovered Hotline Miami on a Steam sale, and saw a recommended trailer video for Drive on YouTube. It's really strange how everything fell into place...

Just an absolutely, all-round fantastic movie :duff. I really shouldn't have held it off for this long.

Baskin 7/10

In intense horror movie that was much slower paced then I had hoped for. It was a movie that was adverstised as going balls to walls and unfortunately didn't seem that crazy to me. It was interesting throught out, well acted and made. Had a couple of scary scenes and an ambiguous plot which worked well.

Freddy Vs Jason 8/10

Loved it when I was younger and still love it today. The plot moves pretty quickly, and while cheesey, is well thought out. The victims all turn out to be pretty smart and start turning cogs early in the movie. And it definitely delivers on the VS aspect, delivering almost mortal kombat level fight scenes which I enjoyed. The biggest let down Is how it all turns to moosh at the end for back to back "he won.... surprise, the other guy won!" scenes.

Zootopia 5/10

A serviceable kids movie. I found it to be kind of boring and not all that funny. I thought the trailers were hilarious and was pretty stoked to see it. I wouldn't be surprised if kids fount it kind of boring too.
