I really dig TNG, DS9 & Voyager. Even when Enterprise originally aired, I was into it. Back in the day though, I couldn't get into DS9; the bigger story didn't resonate with me, so I lost interest in that series for a long time. Basically, I didn't appreciate it properly back then. :lol

That said, the TNG based films lost me. I tried watching Insurrection & Nemesis again a little while back, & they just felt meh to me. Generations however, is cool (from memory).

Those two are the weakest of the lot- Insurrection is a drawn out tv episode and a weak one at that. First Contact is pretty darn good and I love Generations despite the hate always put on it...

Red State: 6.5/10
I was very impressed at Kevin Smith for this one. I mean this in the most complimentary way: it was completely UNlike anything else I’ve seen of his. Very impressed that he showed some range in story, dialogue and storytelling. It was more along the lines of a Tarantino movie (but obviously not as good). But still a very impressive effort and a decent movie.

The Intern: 5/10
Eh. It was okay. Watching DeNiro and Anne Hathaway is the only worthwhile thing in the movie.

Carnage Park 9/10: awesome throw back to more serious and thrilling grindhouse movies. light in plot but tense as hell

American Utra 8/10: just a fun movie, a little bit of humor some smoking of the pot and glorious ultra violent action.

The Terminator 7.8/10

The nostalgia has worn off for me. Had to knock off points for some of the 80's schlock and laughable Arnold robot head puppetry.

The Visit -

I knew the twist so I can't rate it in that sense but there were still a fair amount of crazy-old-people gags that I found it entertaining. Even with arguably the worst form of modern humanity as a character - young white middle-class kid who raps like he's ghetto. I didn't hate him, so that's something. :lol

Wow that's the lowest score I've seen here. The puppet in the eye surgery scene is bad, but the one they use in the truck chase scene I think is damn good.

Terminator was so formative for me that I don't even think I can rate it. It's beyond nostalgia. It was the day I learned that there were robot stories for grownups and it blew my ****ing mind.

I think the eye scene is pretty brilliant, even to this day it's easy to suspend disbelief for me due to how well crafted that scene is for its time.

I like the trickery of Arnie pulling it out from the side a lot. It's just that shot of him about to stab it I never bought. Although him putting the gargoyles on wasn't bad. The damaged puppet in the truck I think you could put it next to any practical effects nowadays... Even though it's mostly CG diarrhea.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Blu Ray

3/10

Basically hated every second, worst of the series.

I was getting worried when I was watching the movie because it's been a long time and it felt a little cheesy but thankfully it got great for me and was still very enjoyable. I agree the puppetry in the truck was done well. Much better than the earlier scenes.

It blew my mind when was 8 years old but it doesn't hold up as well as RoboCop does for me.

The eye scene isn't the worst part of the puppetry. There's a scene where he's reading Sarah's address book in his room and it looks ridiculous.

I'll give you that scene. But when it came to this, I think it's incredible, way way ahead of it's time.
