Speaking of Bane I actually watched TDKR this past weekend for the first time in about three years. I still liked it. A lot.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - 8/10

There's no denying that the narrative has its flaws but I don't know, at the end of the day the experience of watching that film from beginning to end is just something I find to be very rewarding. Like all Nolan Bat films it's all about enduring the lackluster first hour. BB definitely has the best first half of all three films, that's for sure.

And I still rank TDKR higher than the first Avengers flick.

7/10 for the excellent acting and as a film that states in the beginning it's a Dramatization.

I'M not a big fan of Oliver Stones directing but it was well done and he did a good job of keeping it interesting.I always liked JGL he is a smart young actor who chose wisely doing a number of very good indie films early in his career.In which he was always outstanding.A lot of very good actors in this film and they are all good.Be ready for some hero worship,this is a pro Snowden film.

A lot of things have come to light to portray ES as a traitor especially right before this film came out.Most of it about the chronology of when he made his decision to steal the information and whether it was out of anger over past reprimands with his superior or a true patriotic desire to alert the public of U.S. Government survalliance throughout the World.

I Googled it, read the line "a return to form for Fruit Chan...", and discovered just how quickly I could lose interest in reading further.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from "The Mermaid", so I'll be taking a hiatus from Chinese comedies for awhile.

Yeah I've now seen my first Chinese post-apocalyptic horror comedy and I think I can safely say I won't be revisiting that particular genre anytime soon. Man that was just...wow.

Nice! You're killing me bud! Watching all the Universal classic monster movies. This year, I plan on watching them starting on October 1, to kick-off the Halloween month. Still two full weeks away.

The Invisible Man is such a cool story. The movie is so good too if you can just get pass all that cackling from the old lady at the beginning of the movie.

With Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart set in the future where people have suppressed emotions (like Vulcans) but every once in a while some people start to feel again. It's beautifully shot and has a very cool setting and production design and is a lot like THX 1138. It's got an annoying plot point in the climax that comes about from a miscommunication which is really annoying, and leads to an ambiguous ending. It's interesting though.

Amen brother, this film gets alot of hate....and its really very well acted and directed.

My only regret when watching it is the feeling of "what might have been" had Ledger not killed himself......

Avengers isn't in the same league as TDKR in my opinion. Avengers has aged pretty badly especially now that the novelty of all these superheroes sharing the same screen has faded.

It's funny, that I was an early critic of Avengers when everyone else was on that hype train. But I've come to appreciate it a lot more as time has gone on for what it does well. You just have to approach it with the right attitude IMO. Avengers doesn't have the dramatic weight and cinematographic beauty of TDKR. But the story is more efficient, and as crowd-pleasing big budget action films go, it certainly does its job well. I would give Avengers the edge, because I didn't feel very fulfilled at the end of TDKR, and it left me with a sour taste in my mouth with "Robin" and nodding Alfred, though neither movie is one of my favorites in the genre.

I guess if I were to rate each movie solely on the last five seconds of each film then I'd give the edge to Avengers but the rest of the movie just doesn't really do it for me anymore. I did like it when it came out, but that was more on account of it seemingly being the biggest and best team-up movie that we'd ever get. Now that it doesn't offer anything particularly satisfying dramatically or visually and the novelty is long gone all I see is a sequence of uninteresting scuffles and that horrendous Cap suit. Galaga still cracks me up every time though.

Also, I've probably seen that movie 3 times total. So, that probably affects my perspective a bit. I've seen Dark Knight Rises twice. If you get over-exposed to these things, I think some psychological pushback is inevitable.

That's funny, I actually watched this last night for the first time in a few years as well.

The only thing I can really knock points off for, is for that horrible design of the bat(wing) and a crawling first 40 minutes. But it's still one of the greatest to end a trilogy. solid 8.5/10 in my book.

The Hunt for Red October (1990) 7.8/10

20 years ago I would've rated this a 9. Now it seems half the dialogue seems cringe worthy and the under water effects have aged terribly.


The Witch (2015) I don't want no butter/10

It's seriously difficult for me to rate the film because it's high quality stuff while not trying to be Oscar bait material but I just wasn't particularly entertained. That might be because the film delivers its most horrendous moment so early on that everything else did not register with me. It could also be that I recently watched The Conjuring 2 which is far less original than The VVitch but has more thrilling moments. Funny thing is I like the less Hollywood ending of The VVITCH more than The Conjuring 2 but somehow I felt unsatisfied with The VVitch.
