The Matrix had a good ending. I didn't feel that it needed sequels.

Then you missed the point of the first one.

The first film has a lot of little details, references, and symbols that get lost because of all the style and special effects. I think people just like the idea of a dream world (in more ways than one :lol), the cool fights and effects...which are nice, but the sequels are necessary, imo. After watching all three films back to back, the first feels incomplete without the sequels, imo. I can't say that about most trilogies.

Yup, that's pretty much the case with the entire trilogy, but the first one has a more straight forward plot which the audience can hold on to even if they don't get the underlying themes, and with the sequels there's no such thing, the audience gets lost and they think they're bad movies.

to not get the themes from the matrix is impossible, they beat it over your head the entire time. then they released 2 ****** sci fi movies that shared the same name and themes.

they're just bad movies, you don't get anything out of them but a more awkward, over saturated, boring trilogy.

if i want a sequel to the matrix, i'll just take a few tabs and watch the first one please and thanks. :D

I find it funny that you assume somebody not liking The Matrix = Not understanding the movies

Well I haven't see anything that points to the contrary, most I've seen people get is Neo is Jeezus lmao!

Just look at how many people think the architect scene is just random ramblings, ergo! concordantly! XDDD

Somehow I don't believe you.

you don't get anything out of them
See?

:lol you don't get anything out of them because the first matrix already does everything the other 2 do. reread my post.

and the main theme in the matrix is freedom, or lack of or what is. among others.

Hacksaw Ridge 10/10. Hell of a movie about faith and manhood. Even if you don't share his values (which I don't ... I'm a Baptist, we're well-armed disciples of Christ). Mel Gibson has made the two best Christian movies in a generation.

The Big Sleep 9/10. Bogey and Bacall. My 12-year-old daughter sat and watched the whole thing with me ... which was a bit surprising. Really good movie. Awesome chemistry. Some really great lines in there ("What's wrong with you?" "Nothing you can't fix."). Plot was a bit convoluted. Not quite as good as The Maltese Falcon, but close.

You always get that kind of reaction when you tell someone they don't get a popcorn movie :lol BUT I DOOOO! Followed by showing you exactly how much it is that they don't get. THERE'S NOTHING TO GEEET! IT'S JUST A BAD MUHVEE :lol

it's a massive philosophical movie, i'm not gonna become a keyboard warrior to break down its themes into sub-themes to prove my point about a 17 year old movie.
Holy **** you truly do get it! :horror

Anyway, the main theme isn't freedom, but don't take my word for it, you get it and you don't like it because bad movie, I'm sold.

jeez, the salt is real dude. i love the first but the "trilogy" as a whole does not deliver. you can get stoned and watch brazil and get more out of that terrible flick then the last 2 matrix's as far as reincarnation and societal themes go.

What salt? :lol you're the salty one here bro. Plus you're the one trying to convince me :lol I told you, I'm sold!

I do so love how you talk in hugely broad strokes so you make sure you cover "the themes", believe it or not, you still missed some :lol But don't mind me, I've been converted to Matrix sequels hater :lol

Calling Brazil a terrible film doesn't help your argument, but hey, films are subjective.

dude. it's a movie that covers freedom all the way to being apart of a commercialized, media driven society. i don't think you understand that i'm not proving that i know what the themes are. i'm just saying that the last 2 are unnecessary as far as sequels go. IMO.
