Popstar - 6.5/10 Had some really funny stuff in it. Good not great, but I bet it gets better with a second viewing. Hot Rod gets better every time I see it.

Hot Rod is my favourite movie of all time. I know I sound nuts to say of all time but genuinely there is no other movie I have enjoyed as much as Hot Rod. Nor any movie I've found as re-watchable as Hot Rod. I 100% agree every time I watch it it's better than the last.

War of the worlds (on Cruise control) - 7/10

did you notice that the helmet they make his DJ wear in Popstar makes the War of the Worlds sound? :lol

funny coincidence.

Synchronicity is so common for me it's become the norm. A subject that ventures far outside of this thread. [emoji1303]

Drive - 10/10 First viewing. Beautiful, crazy, heartfelt film. One of the few films that's truly moved me.

I also watched Drive for the first time a few weeks ago. I'd give it maybe a 7 or 7.5 and that's mostly because of the cast and the artsy/moody tone throughout. Otherwise the film didn't really grab me and I fail to see what the fuss was all about.

There are a few videos analysis of the film on youtube.

This is a pretty good video.

Yes and it echoes my own analysis, I just come to a different conclusion. Shot composition, color choice, and symbolism = very well done. But I need more than that. As George Lucas once said "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing." And the same can be said with regard to the other elements listed above. Sure Drive has those things in spades, and presents them very well, but like Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut before it ultimately falls flat without a more captivating story and characters.
