That's what I mean, I don't remember a big marketing thing going on, only the trailers, Warcraft has zero brand recognition for normies.

That directly affects the box office.

A strong opening weekend depends solely on hype. Second week drop depends on word of mouth and critics.

Oh, critics also have a say about the opening week.

you can even read the reviews in the thread of this board. people were anoyed that the movie didnt explain things

No, I remember, but I went back anyway,

It's mentioned in the thread that during release the movie had a 81% audience score, and the reviews in the thread are mixed leaning towards the positive, critic reception was already bad and little to no mention of not following the plot, which I did read in some places, just not much of that in the thread.

I mean, I agree with you and I did see those reactions by some people, but I maintain that it was weak marketing and critics.

Well, at least this movie helped me realize obvious CGI isn't necessarily a bad thing, it has its own charm.

And videogame movies in particular should be able to exploit that like this movie did, it's almost like a 2 hour cinematic cut scene and it works great.

Well, if the cgi doesn't look realistic, it can still look good by looking cool.

Blade Runner 2049: 9.5/10

Had to watch this one again. My score went up. Hands down one of my favorite flicks the last 5 years. I’ll be picking up the Blu this weekend for another watch.

I enjoy it. That 3-way fight with Jet Li at the end is cool. I love that those films managed to keep the same cast all the way through which helped make 4 a nice wrap-up. Although they've been talking about doing another one according to Gibson.

For me Die Hard completely lost it with 4 and 5....actually I haven't seen 5 but I fully believe its reputation is deserved because I thought 4 was terrible.

The Foreigner- 7/10 Interesting action thriller. I got the sense of Taken with a little bit of Rambo thrown in. Jackie Chan is great in this, not for his martial arts or stunts but for his character performance.

I was believing Peirce Brosnan's character Hennessy was innocent making Chan's character Quan's vigilante actions a bit unforgivable in the beginning, but of course, in the end Hennessy turned out to mostly be a bad guy especially with the unintentional collateral damage. I kinda wished they kept Hennessy more ambiguous making us question whether or not Quan was justified in his actions, never outright saying he was involved in the terrorist stuff but leaving us to question whether he was or not at the end. Still, a good movie that could've been great.
