The Special Edition of ST1 is getting a 4k release later this year. I’ll check the film out again when that gets released

WOK has a directors cut but 1 of the added scenes is goofy and does not belong. Thus I prefer the Theatrical cut.
I just watched it tonight on Paramount +

The travel to Vgar is still way too long!

Robocop 4K 1987 9/10
Ok the tv segments look awful (obviously shot on video). And the extended cut version footage looks awful (as it always has). Otherwise this looks terrific. Any footage in a controlled lighting studio type situation and it looks fantastic. Location work etc doesn’t look as good, quite grainy, but still the best it’s looked. Sound is a bit disappointing, I played it with the Atmos track and its ok but lacks punch. Will have to try the other tracks to compare. The Arrow set looks massively comprehensive with absolutely every kind of extra you could want. I don’t have to say how great the film is.

Bruised 7/10
Really decent MMA fighting/drama film. Always liked Halle Berry and she is terrific in it and does a good job with her first time directing.

Greenland 7/10
Also surprised how good this was. Haven’t been a huge fan of Gerard Butler but I’ve liked him more as he has got older. Writing and directing isn’t great but i like that this natural disaster film concentrates on character over spectacle. Shows how despicable we can be given the desperate situation and how wonderful we can be under pressure.

Swiss Army Man 8/10
I love going in completely unaware of a film. One of my friends always raved about this film and I figured I should watch it since I am seeing the directors new film next week.
Wow. Utterly bonkers in the best way. Paul Dano is great as always but Daniel Radcliffe completely steals this film. He is something else. Won’t give away anything else, just see if you like truly mad original films.

No Way Home - 6/10

More enjoyable than Far From Home, but holy cow, this was very much Plot Device™: The Movie. Inconsistencies and poorly-defined rules abound. Feels like Marvel had a series of scenes/interactions they wanted to shoot and just used whatever script could connect them.

But hey, we're finally getting licensed Raimi figures!

Fully agree.

I need to check this out. 😳😬

No Way Home - 5/10

I am not a comic guy and I don't watch movie trailers. I was very interested on how they would write a story involving past Spider Man movies and characters!! When it happened I was "WTF so this is it??"

The Northman

7.0/10

Epic adult version of Anakin vs ObiWan fight, Valhalla and Frazetta style imagery, and of course Dafoe delivers but..

The villain and world building were really poorly handled and what happens to a movie when a hero doesn’t have a good villain….it gets a 7 score that’s what happens lol

Example…

A character disparages someone being from the “north” but it’s never explained why.

The villain is just explained away in a single sentence that he lost his kingdom and now this main villain is just a sheep farmer pretty weak. Why it took so long for the hero to take out the villain is a mystery then again the movie needed to be 2 hours and 20 minutes long to get there. The revenge plot reminded me of the Jane Punisher movie you will see what I mean when you go watch it but Punisher did it better lol and it was dumb that the villain couldn’t figure out who was responsible for the terror being done to him, gee it wouldn’t be the brute in the camp would it, dumb.

meh lol

Don’t get me wrong you should definitely go see it on the big screen but it’s not the movie I was expecting which was Braveheart but with Vikings and the movie really loses its way and gets boring in the middle. Don’t go in expecting a big battle there are none…zilch, nada!

As epic as that personal end battle was it wasn’t that long although by that point I wanted it to be over with already.

I would definitely not sit through that again.

Halloween 4
6.5/10
Not great but definitely watchable. One of the better non-Carpenter, non-JLC sequels.

The Straight Story
9/10
I lent my DVD of this film to a mate 15 years ago and then we lost track of each other. We reconnected during the pandemic and talk every week now. In other words I haven’t seen this film for a loong time. It finally came out in a good bluray so I told him to keep the DVD.

Us
9/10
I prefer this to Get Out.

Derek Delgaudio’s In and Of Itself
6.5/10
Interesting, watchable but hiiighly pretentious. Directed by Yoda.

Everything Everywhere All At Once
7/10
I prefer the directors other film, Swiss Army Man, but this is highly watchable and it is so great to have Short Round back!!!
Also I think James Hong must be an immortal.
Also I don’t think I was in the mood for this film and I was constantly distracted by two people in front of me who keep pulling their phones out so I may have to see this again in the not too distant future.

A Quiet Place Part II
6/10
If you took the best parts of the first film and the best parts of this film you would have a belter.

JAWS 2.. 7 out of 10

Probably been 6 years since I watched this.

I think this is a solid film. I mean when you are making a sequel to JAWS that is just no easy task. Cast is good(except for some teens) score is fantastic, and the direction is very solid. Now granted this is a slasher film with a shark overall It was a fun watch.
