The shining 8/10

Is more for it's atmosphere, otherwise it seemed to resemble more a series of images than a story. But I've never really been a fan of Kubriks work anyway.

Thats why it makes it so good,the story itself is nothing special,i have 2 friends that hate it too,i mean...REALLY hate it but then again they have no clue about movies...

Rene Zellwegger is what ruined (and that's a strong word to use) the experience for me... I just can't stand her...

I'd give this an even lower rating of 2/10. I hated it. Sad thing is is that I really like Ed and Viggo but both of them stunk it up in this one.

As a film student, I was annoyed and frustrated by how awful the white balance and filming was off... and the story dragged out... this 2+ hour debacle could have easily been explained in 5 minutes.

And yes, Renee is very annoying.

I'm no film student but I noticed how off the color ,or whatever you called it, was too.

When a film goes from blue to normal, the blue shots outside means they forgot to set their white balance.. the temperature of the cameras was off.

They also had some mediocre camera angles.... some shots were shaky. The whole movie was a mess IMO. Surprising considering the cast.

Not a big fan of a 15 minute story dragged out over 2 hours. The people I went with fell asleep during the movie. Thankfully I saw it at the cheapseats. Would have hated to pay full price.

I'll be watching Appaloosa tonight so I'll chime in when it's over. It got good reviews from critics so I'm curious now.
