Iron Man 2. I enjoyed it but the action was meh and final battle with was over in about 10 seconds. Whiplashes motivation was super weak and it was very talky. Nothing stood out as amazing, just good. Not a patch on the orginal.7/10

A Nightmare on Elm Street

7.5 / 10

2nd only to the original, better then any of the sequels IMO.

Solid movie, the pacing is just fine, a few scenes could use an extra 2-3 seconds of calm before jumping right into things but it struck me as minor cuts that got made and will be back in the DVD.

All in all I really enjoyed the film, its better then any of the other remakes easily. Jackie rocked, I liked him just as much as Englund.

Spoiler review is longer, nothing too crazy in there, in fact if you followed the making of it even a little, you probably already know the only spoiler,

Started off kinda meh for about 2 mins there, I thought oh ____ its Freddy Vs Jason writing, this guys clearly going to be a poor actor, then I realized they had bated me perfectly, this wasn't stupid teeny boppers who can't act, the way they handle the first kill was to me a big ____ you to the horrible corny way they tryed to make Freddy a slapstick goon in the sequels prior to this. All of the little homages to the original are used differantly enough to make you feel some nostalgia but don't hold the same weight as the original. The dreams in the original are creepier, they aren't used to the same effect, but all in all, it's handled well enough. The Dream in the pharmacy was probably the best and most original.

Some people are going to be pissed they went all the way to making Freddy a child molsestor, or it sure did seem that way. But it was actually sort of welcome to really differantiate Jackie from Robert, Krueger feels grittier and more to the point, he likes to mess around with his victims still, but not with the same sense of humor, he's darker and all in all, dare I say, the fact he is a child molestor makes him a bit creepier then Robert in some ways. The ending wasn't the most inventive but it was well enough to set up a sequel, and theres no doubt here that there will be a 2nd. Go and have fun, don't expect Kubrick or Scorsese, go into it the same way you did Texas Chainsaw, just with an open mind, theres nothing that was bastardizing enough for me to say they nuked the fridge on Freddy, maybe some fans will disagree but its a welcome entry into the Nightmare franchise from where I sat.

Oh and quit freaking out about the reviews, Ebert and the gang are retarded, we should all know that by now.

I agree with your review, but give it a point better because I feel Jackie did an excellent job as the evil Freddy. The tweens were forgettable, but no worse than the original cast so you can't take too much off for that. I thought the kills were great, and the nods to the original were done just right....they didn't mirror them 100%, but enough was different for an update.

IMO this movie is definitely better than the other remakes to date. Freddy is just a monster, bar none. Especially with the molestation spin. In the originals you just hated him because he was a child killer, but a child molester is just EVIL!!! I like how this Freddy is serious instead of the cheese that came in the old movies. He toyed with his victims, but nothing was over the top despite his one-liners and jokes. And I believe they indeed left it open for another because in the end when they're loading up Quentin into the ambulance one of the fireman said "No bodies were found." Hmm....what could that mean??

The Horseman. 7.5/10

I enjoyed this , it started a little slow but I think it was a decent movie. Not a patch on Dead Mans Shoes though imo.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Saw VI 7.5/10

Much better than Saw V.

Wanted to give it an 8 because I really like the message in this one,
I hate insurance companies!
but the ending fell flat compared to some of the others. Almost moved it down to a 7 but one thing saved it:
Finally a really great guts scene! Combined with acid death and that's a big WIN!

Over all this has been an enjoyable horror series. In addition to lots of great squirmy stuff, it had good twists, compelling characters, and it made you think.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I agree the latest was the best one since 3. I actually felt sick in places

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I predict Iron Man is gonna suck.

I also predict many of you will call me nuts for feeling this way about Iron Man.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Wow, you haven't even seen Iron Man yet?!

thats why its called a prediction you silly goose :monkey5

Iron Man is gonna go the route Transformers did. When the 1st movie came out EVERY ONE WAS BLOWN AWAY by the FX. But having the eye that I do for spotting & knowing the difference between a truly great movie & nothing more than media hype, I could see TF for the crap movie it was.

By the time the 2nd one came out people were less impressed by the FX & thus, able to partially share in my power of "sight beyond sight" so-to-speak. Bay ended up learing the hard way movie magic can only take you so far. his botched designs of the TF (especialy the Decpticons) along with a sript that sucked like a G class star black hole, spelled his doom.

How ever your in luck. Iron Man (while super cool) is no where near the Americon TFs where & are. So they have much less to fall from grace. this means their splash wont be as bad as TF2. 75% of its rev will be earned on opening night/weekend. Many are trying to hype it to be the next greatest film since TDK (funny how that movie is the new standard in cinnimatic excellence), but many are saying it will topple TDK.

Yes I fully admit my bias in this matter....TDK F@CIN ROCKS!!! But thats due in part to superior actors & script. Not just FX. Iron Man 2 will NOT be the next land mark si fi film. It will make a weekend splash.....hock some lil red robot men to kids who's attention span are shorter than a gnats dic. A month after release the bulk of merch left on the pegs (& lets face their not breaking any toy records with that stuff), all that left will clearanced out.

the adult collectors (thats you guys *wink*) will cherry pick a few cool things, but mostly staying with the Hot Toy stuff (I don't blame you, if your gonna buy at least make it count). Hasbro will be left with lack luster sales & scrambling to find new & niffty ways to repackage toys that no one wanted the 1st time around.

So yeah....I didn't see the movie yet. But I also didn't need to a ass load of chick flicks that have been flying out of Hollywood along with all these comic movies, to know it blows like a ubber crappy made American Space Shuttle. :fireworks
