Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Certainly more a thriller than horror, but it does have a lot of elements from the latter. This film gets a spot on my shelf mainly because its premise is very similar to an old Twilight Zone episode from the 60's. That and this film inspired the Silent Hill video games, which are debatably the scariest games ever made.

And Tim Robbins is a great actor.

Really? I never knew that. I've only ever played the first Silent Hill (PS2) and LOVED it. Agreed on Tim Robbins too, Shawshank is my all time favorite film so naturally he's one of my favs. Good stuff.

Yep, the creators specifically credit the nightmarish hospitable scenes as an inspiration.

Anyway, yesterday I watched Tarantino's Grindhouse

Planet Terror 7/10
Death Proof 9/10

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Glad someone else appreciates Death Proof.

Although I have to say Planet Terror has also grown on me, especially between Tom Savini and Michael Beihn's characters.

The scene on the extended DVD where Tom is trying to get his wedding ring back or at the retirement home are awesome.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

The biggest problem with Death Proof is it starts off really slow. Once it gets going though it's cool.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I agree!

For me, it's the definitive "it was all a dream" movie.

Thats definitely an interesting thought but imo I think the story was just straight forward. He was previously married and had a son that passed away. His new marriage somewhat keeps his sanity alive

Great film tarantino can't do no wrong in my eyes, yet to see grindhouse think I have it on dvd though.

Planet terror excellent film also as is jaccobs ladder.

Just saw the expendables on wednesday, not bad few good moments like the bit with arnie, willis and stallone in the church.

Not a great film but if you like noise and lots of explosions then good to kill a few brain cells for an hour and 45;)

Huh?

Why does he wake up at the end still in Vietnam then?

Each time I've see it, I thought it was totally clear that all of the events of the movie take place in a flash just as he's dying on the battle field.

From the Wiki article:

"At the dénouement, we learn Jacob never made it out of Vietnam; his body is shown in an army triage tent just after he expired. Apparently, the entire series of events turns out to have been a dying hallucination. Before the film credits, an on-screen title card states that the U.S. Army allegedly experimented with a hallucinogenic drug called BZ, a claim denied by the Pentagon."

Omg, My bad I totally misunderstood you or read it wrong, yes he is dreaming the entire film (or in limbo) within his hallucinations. And yes the film maker makes that clear when he wakes up in Vietnam at the end. What I mean't was the story was straight forward and the events were all in pattern as we saw them (previous marriage, new marriage, etc, etc) I guess I must have read it wrong, you said dream and I was thinking hallucinations. Hehe I can see how confusing I can come off at times :lol

Ah, I see. :D

And I forgot the bits about his wife and son. I only remember the stuff with Jezebel. Some of the hallucinations in that part are really memorable.

One of the freakiest moments in cinema is when she looks at him in the car and says "anyone in there? Anyone home?!!" And her teeth are tiny and her eyes are all black! :horror :panic:

Hehe I think you forgot to add the spolier tag :lol

I know the part you're talking about but its not in a car its in the kitchen. After the part where he nearly dies and they put him in an ice filled bathtub.

Inglorious Basterds ... 8/10. Finally got around to watching this. Pitt stole the show every time he was on screen ... but he could've been on screen a bit more. Good overall plot, with a few parts that dragged-on unnecessarily.
