Gave it a 6. While i enjoyed watching it, it was a bit slow at times, and it didnt draw me in as much as Fellowship.
I also found that it was very similarly structured to fellowship, 'tells story at start about dragon/ fotr gave story of sauron, then scenes in the shire, then meet up at elven kingdom, then trudging through the mountains (by the way the rock giants baffled me, they meant nothing to me as far as story goes), then down into the mines fighting orcs, then they get out and see their mountain in the distance, just like in the others where they start towards mount doom. it was all too familiar, and i didnt care at all for the characters too.

That's because its structured very much like the Fellowship. So that would be why you felt that way (I'm speaking of not only the movie but the book). They're just a reason why the company ends up inside the opening that leads to Goblin Town both in the book and movie. As far as some of the characters you won't end up caring for all of them. I don't and I've read the book many times over the years. Jackson did a fantastic job of adding more to Balin, Bofur, Thorin (made him nicer), and Bilbo (made him less whiney).

But I enjoyed the tale of Bilbo and the crew. That's actually why I enjoy the Hobbit so much more. It's a singular story that is really mostly character based. And that's more up my ally.

Thorin and Bilbo are becoming great characters. Not there just yet...but hopefully their arcs will come full circle in the last flick.

Well, The Hobbit is a simpler (much simpler) story than The Lord of the Rings. There isn't as much going on in other words even in the movie version as compared to The Lord of the Rings but things will pick up some going forward.

You really need to just read the book. Its not long and you should get through it quickly.

:lol I thought he meant Kate.....and in Lost......as in Lily! Duh me!

Cate is pretty! So :pfft:

Cate is very pretty. She looked amazing in that outfit when she first turns around in Rivendell.

So have they already filmed all 3? I know they filmed a lot of it but is there gonna be any more filming?

There is some more filming next summer. Stuff like the Battle of the Five armies to be exact. RA said he hasn't even filmed what happens to Thorin.

It's like the critics wanted to hate this.

LOL.

(Although i CAN see someone who hasn't read the book not getting into it.) But still like Shai said........

Reading the critics, I thought this movie was going to suck, but I absolutely love it!!! 9/10 !!! Better than ROTK for me.My third favorite movie in the franchise so far.I didnt want it to end.I saw it in a normal theatre so the experience was great for me. No 3d, no 48 crap for me.

2nd best movie of 2012 for me after Avengers... Now waiting for Django in a week !!!

Its possible they are over the fantasy genre. Feeling that The Lord of the Rings was enough time in Middle-earth. My main complaints with professional critics was that they went on and on about the 48fps (instead of talking about the movie) and/or expecting this to be The Lord of the Rings redux (instead of knowing a little about the actual story). In the end that doesn't matter much the movie is doing pretty well at the BO, being well received by most fans, and well on its way to being another awesome run in Middle-earth.

:D :hi5:

I want to go see it again! This time at the Imax in Hutch! :rock

Nice! It gets better with each viewing IMO. When you say Hutch I know where you're talking about in KS. :lol

The critics did want to hate this from the beginning. That's their thing now. I'm betting when the new Avengers movie comes out in a couple of years that they'll be waiting to blast it out of the water.

Alternative ending! :rock

:D

I can almost hear the heads exploding now if that happens. :lol

Sadly, I could see it happen. Its the thing to do anymore at least in the states. Build something/someone up so that way you can have fun tearing them down.

...........ruagh............:lol

Try some Beano for that. :D

My ovaries will explode if it does. :monkey3

Yup, I see it more and more now.

I'm starting to notice that on the boards, with critics, and websites everywhere. Ign even posts videos about all the things wrong with (insert movie name).

I guess it's cool to be miserable. I think I used to be that way. I can't remember. I enjoyed the movie and while I have my own gripes I still really enjoyed it and can't wait for the others. **** everyone else. :rotfl
