I think after the trilogy is said and done and we've seen epic scenes featuring Smaug and
people will revisit An Unexpected Journey and be quite charmed by its pacing and tone.

The guy playing Bilbo just nailed it in my opinion.
Damn Smaug being a tease.Literally just moved my status up for the second movie to WANT IT NOW. Loved it ending on that note.
It's going to be Sherlock fighting Watson.

I gave it an 8. It didn;t quite grab me the way the Fellowship did but then again none of the follow ups have. Doesn't mean I don't think they are good, even great, just the Fellowship is still for me the best one.
I thought they could have easily lost most of the Bilbo/Frodo stuff at the beginning. Especially when years from now and we watch them in order, it will feel really unnecessary. As it stands I rate the films the following:
Fellowship 9.5/10
Two Towers 7.5/10
Return of the King 8.5/10
The Hobbit: UJ 8/10

I would say a solid 9 as a movie, Its got great characters, visually stunning, awesome music and an epic scope, And the fact its soo long does take a little away from it but there were no slow scenes i felt could of been cut, mabey just trimmed down a tad.
