Whoever gave this a five or less...I just dont get it...I bet they can't stand any close to 3 hr film....I could see not liking it as much as say LOTR but to dislike it,or like LOTR but not like this one?...I just dont get it...maybe attention spans are lowered nowadays?

Such a tiny fraction are giving it a 5 (and the 1's are obviously people making jokes) that I see no reason to get worked up. It's actually getting very favorable numbers here. Even the people "disappointed" in it are still giving it 7's. Far from a TPM or even TDKR that supposedly betrays the films that came before it.

Exactly. Just because I was a bit disappointed and have issues with the movie doesn't mean I don't like it. The last time I checked a 7-8 isn't too shabby. If I thought it was bad I'd have given it a 6 or lower.

BTW, I see Wetanut gave it a 7 as well, so I know I'm in good company.

Yeah, I don't think 7s are bad. I don't agree with it by anymeans but to each their own since we have different dollars nice levels for certain things. I love The Hobbit (seen it twice with two more coming this weekend) so for me it reached what I wanted.

I actually felt the disappointment within Josh when I read Iron Man this past week:

I am the kind of LotR fan who wanted 45 minutes MORE of false endings at the end of RotK. I saw Ghandi in the theaters when I was a kid and LOVED it. So I am no rookie when it comes to long form cinema... but I think PJ could have trimmed about 30 minutes from this movie.

I wanted more and am excited about the EE being 3hours. For me what was in there outside of a couple gags worked great, it moved quickly, and left me wanting more.
