Yeah, the live cashback paid off instantly! I highly recommend it, while it lasts at 30%. I'm combing ebay for a Frodo. Not sure if I'll get him right now though.

Gandalf is a keeper.. this one will never be topped. I will never sell him, that's for sure.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Darn good price--now I go to look for same price

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Got one for $71.69 shipped --Thanks Amanaman

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Gandalf plays a Gibson!!! Where does he conjure up the money?

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

It's his signature model. Gandalf actually helped Les Paul with his new-fangled "electric" log. It's all in the patent information. True story!

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Hey creecher- one quick off-topic question: Is the Ned Kelly movie starring Mick Jagger worth watching?

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Depends on what your after in a film. It does tell the story of Ned, but adds a good dose of artistic licence. Heath Ledger in 'Ned Kelly' is more historically accurate.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I don't have Gandalf yet, and sorry to derail. Here's Ned.

Now bring me my grey.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Who made the Ned Kelly figure? Custom? OK back on topic- You should really buy the Gandalf figure if anybody is still on the fence about it. I've been collecting Sideshow 1/6 figures since I discovered the Wolfman and Frankenstein's Monster in a Toys'R'Us in 2000 or 2001. I'm very familiar w/the loose Buck body. Aside from that- i:gandalf:gandalfn hand, this is an impressive figure of an iconic character from literature and pop culture, as well as the brilliant movie portrayal. I aged and weathered and muddied and frayed and scorched mine because I figured, after paying $97 (w/ shipping), I wanted this little toy to look as close as possible to the way I always pictured him, not fresh out of the box, just walked out of the Burlington Robe Factory. Just my opinion.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

It's basically the Doc Holiday figure with custom made Ned Kelly armour, a wip. It's hard to find a Keens curry can in 1/6, which he used to hold his shot.

Back on topic, I'm forced to view all your wonderful Gandalf pics, while I wait for the slow boat from America to bring stocks to our shores. Oh the injustice.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

While waiting for the G.I. Joe line to drop, and after watching the LOTR trilogy over Thanksgiving (a new tradition in my household), I decided to jump into the 1/6 line. Picked up Gandalf and Frodo from another board member, then ordered Samwise with a Gift Card direct from SS. Will try to be patient picking up the rest of these figures.

Just wanted to say that all the wonderful information in this LOTR section helped sway me into the fold. I'm hoping SS will at least complete the Fellowship now.

:D

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I've got to tone down the white in my Gandalf's beard. It's definitely got to be a bit more grey. I think that will be a definite improvement.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

ok, so my gandalf and my extra truetype body finally came in, i have it all swapped except for the head, as this part is confusing me and im hoping someone can explain what to do. the peg size of the truetype neck adapter is shorter than the one on the buck, but i cant seem to remove the neck adapter from the buck body. can anyone give me some detailed instructions on how to get gandalf's head onto the truetype body?

If you wanna take the easy route, I'd just pick up a spare elongated TT neck off of ebaY. Then just pop Gandalf's head on it:

posted this in the other thread as well, but for reference, here you go :)
I've done this with all my LOTR figures so far.

It's pretty simple really. the truetype adapter for heads with a sculpted neck is perfect for the buck body, it just needs some anchoring. I'm partial to hot glue, mainly becuase it's cheap, and easy ":)

Simply take gandalf's head, Get a hot glue gun, fill the hole in the bottom of gandalf's head with hot glue, insert the hot toys neck adapter. let it cool, and take an x-acto blade and trim the excess hot glue that spills out when you press the adapter into the neck hole. You're done. Easy as pie.

Just for clarification, you DO want hot glue to spill out of the hole, you want to fill his neck allmost up completely. don't worry about usin too much, any excess will simply ooze out as you push the adapter in. DO make sure to push the adapter ALL THE WAY IN, and hold it there till the glue cools.
