Holy (....) you guys... I hadn't looked in this thread for a week or so and I'm reading all your stories, and I'm pretty creeped out right now sitting alone here in my (pretty dark) room.

Especially Nerdy Black Guy's story about him seeing witches, demons and what not really scared me.
Weren't you afraid to go to sleep the following night?

I kid you not, I would become an insomniac, can't imagine I would want to go to sleep if such thing would happen to me...

I use to get sleep paralysis a lot. This is when you are wake up in the middle of the night and your whole body is paralyzed and the only thing you can move is your eyes. You hear rushing sounds of wind in your ears and your whole body is covered in an electrical vibration. You can try and scream but no sound will come out. When in this strange and frightening state I would sometimes see shadows moving around the room or I would see a scary woman who looked like an old witch just stand at the foot of my bed or even hover over my bed and just stare at me with an evil grin. Other times I would see demon creatures just looking really close to my face. While all this was going on I could actually see my girlfriend sleeping next to me from the corner of my eye. I would try and yell to her but no sound would come out. While trying to yell to her these entities would just continue looking at me. But when I would break out of this paralysis my bed sheets would be covered in a cold sweat and my heart would beat really fast in terror. Sometimes I think I was half way in the physical world and the spirit world which is why I was able to see these things. Also not all the entities that I saw seemed evil. I remember one time a voice was talking directly to me and kept saying ”how are you…what is your name…please tell me your name” in an excited and anxious tone. It was almost like he was happy that I can actually hear his voice. Again my girlfriend was asleep and couldn’t hear anything.

People that I’ve talked to all have their theories but no one truly knows for sure. There are lots of things that cannot be explained. Some say it was connected with Astral Projection. This is when your spirit or essence can actually leave your body. I remember times while sleeping I have actually hovered towards the ceiling looking down and then when I realized I can see myself sleeping I would immediately zoom right back into my body and wake right up. Monks and mystics who meditate can actually perform Astral Projection on cue and leave their body. They say when you do this you can leave the physical world and enter the world of spirits. Maybe I did this by accident which is why I saw these spirits. But like I said before no one really knows. It may have just been a dream or it could have been something else. Whatever it was it was extremely intense.

It is also called the old hag syndrome a lot of people see what is called shadow people, they are spirits but I believe they may be evil, just like the hag. I used to listen to the best podcast on this kinda stuff called mystrious universe, people believed that strange things would happened to them after listening to it. Not me though don't believe in that superstitious crap. They also reported on U.F.O.s and the such. But their ghost stories always intrigued me. I wish they had their episodes on their website. There was one on Halloween that really scared the soul out of me. Anyways I get sleep paralyze as well and attribute it to stress, its funny I've always had it at new places for instances, I had it when I lived in a apartment away from my parents house for the first time on my own. Then when I moved in to my GF's parents house I had it, then I had it when I moved here to Ventura, actually twice here. The first time here in my new apartment, I couldn't move but could see that my GF was up doing some school work, I couldn't move but tried to shout or make a noise to get her to wake me up or help me, she looked at me smiled and preceded to grab her pillow in a "I'm going to kill you motion". She was joking but I remember thinking to myself help me this isn't a joking matter! I woke up abruptly and shocked kinda yelling at her and asking her why she didn't wake me up. She said that I was whimpering and making noises and was about to wake me up but I had beat her to it. I then got it in the middle of the night the next day but it was more of a dream.
I don't see anything so I think its some kinda lucid dream of sorts where I see the room around me and feel like someone might be there, this all comes from me reading about other peoples cases, I don't honestly want to see the old hag or any of that. I gotta tell ya its something I wouldn't wish on any of my enimes, my brother gets it too, and I have heard of other cases when families get it.
I'm currently unemployed and wonder if all the stress is what caused it to begin with. I also always get the feeling that I can't breathe or its hard to and that I'm always trying to wake myself up, I have the feeling that if I just let go and go back to this slumber that I may die so I'm always trying to wake myself up and snap out of it!

Also a follow up my GF now had it too for the first time but she said that it was more like a dream where she couldn't move and someone was tickling her. I felt so bad cause its the worst feeling in the word being paralyzed.

Here is a video on Sleep Paralysis. It's basically just a small sample of what I went through. Whether it's a dream or whether it's real I will tell you that it's not fun at all because the feeling of terror is real. There is nothing scarier then having that feeling of helplessness where you can't move and all these evil entities are surrounding you. You are basically at their mercy and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

I use to listen to Mysterious Universe all the time to with Benjamin Grundy. Other good podcasts are the Paracast and Eerie Radio. They have a lot of interesting topics on the paranormal. I was heavily into this and did a lot of research after all the weird experiences that I have had.

I remember my mum saying to me years ago she saw a guy high up in a set of flats on the balcony and he looked like he had a pilots outfit on goggles and all like this guy.

May have been a guy from a fancy dress or something but the story always had a ghostly vibe to it.


Oh and just a few years ago I was at my grandmothers house but nobody was in except me and my dad downstairs. He had only come round for ten minutes though too.
All of a sudden we both heard like clogs tapping all around up stairs so to us the ceiling.
Up and down all over the room above.

My dad said ...

" I thought everybody was out ".

I said ... " They are ".

He said " Oh right , I'm going then ".

I said " WTF !. Come up stairs first , Micheal Myers or someone might be up there ".


So we both went up and couldn't find anyone and we did look everywhere... regardless I had a bit of trouble sleeping since we both heard those footsteps and it was quite obvious what they were.

i can really relate to the guy who gets sleep paralysis(or night terrors as they're sometimes called),i suffered from it for over a year a few years back,on the worst ocassions it would repeat over and over in a single night,i saw all sorts,some kind of half shadow half demon staring srtaight at my face kneeling next to my bed,shadows passing from one side of the room to the other you name it,you cant move,absoulutly nothing you can do about it,the first time it happened i actually thought i was going crazy,scary ^^^^.........hasnt happened for years thank god!!! ( its actually good to know im not the only one lol!)

Wow, that's awesome documentation with that video over sleep paralysis.

You see to me, that's just crazy that so many ppl are paralyze at sleep time to have the same visions as others. If you were to tell me that they were just paralyze and couldn't move is one thing but for them to see a shadow man or a elderly woman that wouldn't want to harm you is something else. Why would it be the same thing happening to several other people.

What's up Skiman. Yeah you can search under Sleep Paralysis, Shadow People, Old Hag Syndrome, Night Terrors or Succubus. It has many names. I agree that the most mysterious thing about this is that lots of people have the same visions. That right there is a trip. These sightings have been reported for thousands of years and have been depicted in many paintings.
