should find lots of rabbits in the fields near hanging rock. just mosey around a while.

Yeah, that's true. Hanging Rock seems to attract just about every animal for some strange reason! I've killed many rabbits, skunks, deer, coyotes, and even a cougar once, all around it. You should be able to get 6 rabbits in that area. Move slowly on your horse, and look for the cottonball bopping around low to the ground. That's their tail. If you shoot at it, you'll kill them with one shot.

Can you capture/lasso better breeds in the wild than you can buy?
Or are all the wild ones the same?

The Hungarian Halfbred and American Standardbred have to be caputred/broken before you can purchase them. The Kentucky Saddler is another (but you break that horse in the Bonnie mission). Once you've broken all 3 you get an achievement. The other horses are available for purchase at any time.

I think the American Standardbred is going to be found in the North, which I can't access yet. I found the Hungarian Halfbred in Mexico. He's a fast horse.

What does a Hungarian Halfbreed look like? I think I already broke it in as I got a trophy after breaking in a black horse at some point.

It's pearly white. There are other horses out there that are creamish - but this one really stands out. If you got the trophy, you must have broken it.
You can also tell by going to the store and seeing if the deed is available for purchase.

After finally finishing the roping mission with Bonnie McFarlane and her Dad early this morning she let me keep the stallion I chased down at the end of the mission. Jen do you know what breed this horse is? I rode it back to Armadillo, but I have the War Horse. Is there any way to sell horses in the game? I hope there is. I want to sell this stallion so I can keep riding my War Horse in the game. Thanks! :wave

Hmm yeah I think I got that one, I needed it for a Stranger task like I posted a page or so back. I'll have to buy that one then. :D

Sorry, but you can't sell horses. Otherwise, it'd be too easy to make thousands of dollars in no time at all.

Bonnie's horse is good, but not as good as the warhorse. So, ride it if you want, but when you want your warhorse back, simply kill your current ride, then go into your inventory and activate the deed for the warhorse. It can be used an infinite number of times, so use it whenever your horse goes missing, or dies of bullet-related causes. :horse

I was going to do the more humane and kind thing and just leave the stallion hitched up at the saloon in Armadillo. I really don't like to kill horses. I still have the War horse deed. I know once you get it, you will always have it, and be able to call him up anywhere. I'll try that tonight. I just really don't want to kill a horse.

A noble sentiment, but you'll probably become less humane as the game progresses. I can't count the number of times my stupid horse would run out in front of me during a gunfight and end up killed. I'm guessing some of those killshots were mine, too.

Heck, I felt a little weird doing all the hunting and skinning challenges, but you eventually get over it. The lesson I'm learning is that life in the Wild West was extremely cheap - both for humans AND animals.

That is the Kentucky Saddler. Sadly, I do not think you can sell horses. :(
