Five hundred and fifty-****ing-dollars--so she'll be $600 with shipping. I honestly wasn't expecting her to be that much. She looked amazing at SDCC but Sideshow's QC had better be on point if they're going to jump to that price point.

I actually did this weird, gag shock movement when I saw the price! I thought $489.99 would be in line, and even thought it MAY go down with the recent back and forth of pricing recently. It went up $70 fracking dollars! That's crazy! The Canadian price tag is going to be so incredibly bad. At $600 US that's $800 Canadian right now, BEFORE taxes are added on. That'll be hitting $900 when all is said and done.

Sideshow's recent QC has been pretty dependable recently. Machiko turned out great, Batgirl looks solid from what I saw, Lobo was top notch...with this price, Red Sonja has to pretty much be flawless from a production piece standpoint, and that means all but prototype quality. They've proven they can do it, and they'll have to here again. Any issues and they're going to have an influx heading back there way from all sides of the world.

Seriously though...that's crazy. Sex and violence sells, and this will still easily sell out...but I also think it'll knock a lot of people out of the game as well. I'm going to flex it, because it's still one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen...I'm just shocked they not only went to $500 so quickly, but they went all the way to $550. Geez.

With the dollar only getting worse and prices just going up, I'm going to have to really take a look at what's on deck...something tells me I may be out of the PF game once again outside of a VERY select few if they ever happen.

Oh, and it's a bunch of BS for not including an empty gorram left hand to go with the two-handed axe! For that price, there's no excuse.

:goodpost: Excatly. And to be honest - the ex really doesn't do it for me. I can live without the axe. Looks sort of silly with the sword in one hand and the axe in the other. I'm not po'eing anything directly from SS with prices like this before I see in hand productions pix - given the last 5 years quality track record Sideshow has. I got a Jean Grey ex months after release and the Emma Frost pf can be bought at just around retail from an eu seller. And those were some of the figures I wanted to po but decided to wait and see the actual production piece.

If this turns out good my guess is that the reg can be bought at retail (or less compared to ordering direkctly from SS) from a eu seller years after release. Paticence is the keyword.

99% my plan too. I can get the Reg locally when it comes out, so in about two years probably... this is IF I'm still interested in it, and after checking how QC went. Done a quick math, the Ex would cost an extra $150 give or take, not really worth it without an empty left hand.

I guess I will have to flex-pay her out and it will be my first time using this method to pay. But now I will have to express my disapproval of the 550 price-tag. Why did they stop at 550, why not make it a cool 600. The green, gray and red 550 hulks, I can understand a little but 550 for this red Sonja sucks as huge as church bells. I was really hoping for a 450 price, but I guess it's the intricate details of the snake that's making this statue expensive. :(

That's a bit of comparing apples to caterpillars, tho.
Batgirl had minimal skin showing, the rest is all of a few solid colors. Lobo had a willing and exhaggerated comic paint to it and less skin showing. Both are very solid, but the level of detail on Sonja is simply superior. Skintones are among the hardest things to paint correctly. She has a degree of tan, realistic (<keyword) shading between her lines and curves, shading in proximity of muscles, subtle makeup on her eyes, a glossy cover to simulate sweat in various points. Those are a lot of details that can get lost during production, they might seem minimal when taken alone but you sum all of them up and they're the exact reason why (the prototype of) this statue is such a stunner.
So while I can overall see the higher price tag, at the same time I can also see many more things that could go wrong than on Lobo or Batgirl. I'll go as fas as saying that this is one of the most daring pieces Sideshow has ever tried. Just the fact that they're trying is worthy so let's see how it comes out.

Yeah, if ever there was a piece that qualifies for a custom paint job it's this one. I agree with you 110% SS need to get this one bang on for it to work.

Oh, I won't deny that this is a very realistic sculpt in comparison to the others mentioned, I'm just saying that in terms of QC Sideshow really nailed it with those pieces. The eye makeup on Batgirl, and the overall face was what I was talking about more than her one coloured outfit. Her eyes received a makeup paintjob that I don't think many were expecting to get from a factory. Machiko's armor is superbly done as well.

Red Sonja DEFINITELY has to have her skin perfected. The first one was shown as pale and soft, and came with an ashy tan out of left field. I don't think Sideshow will make that error again, but this one definitely has to have the perfect paints on each twist and roll of skin that's twisting or being pinched by armor, and the sweat will also have to be done perfectly as well. With the examples above I'm just saying that I have faith that they can pull it off if they really buckle down on it. And I think this could be a piece that elevates them forward, or knocks them a few steps back in the eyes of collectors as well, so it's certainly in their best interest to have all hands on deck for this one.

It's a huge jump in price for sure, and I'm hoping the extra is there to go towards making this one of the best pieces they've ever done. I think the price is just a bit more painful for me because of the dollar. I'll be checking out some local outlets, but sometimes it's just easier going straight through Sideshow with how a lot of Canadian places are pricing things from Sideshow and the States in general recently anyway.

I feel ya,

I'm making 133$ U.S payments for my Sub-Zero 1:3 and with the conversion it reaches 175$ or so.

The Canadian dollar is currently ridiculous, so ridiculous it's frustrating.

:lol Yeah, even flex payments hurt with the dollar right now! And apparently it's not supposed to go back up until 2017...clearly the Canadian dollar doesn't understand how many cool things are on the horizon in this hobby. :lol Don't let those laughing faces fool you...I'm crying deep down.

She looks awesome but at $550, just reinforces my original plan of not getting her. Aside from being uber sexy and badass, I gotta limit my orders to stuff I need...gonna pass but congrats to those who love her and can get over the price hike!

Agree with this -- add on duty and the new stupid liberal government this will easy be 900$ or more

Price isn't really a problem for me considering the flex pay system SS has in place.

Considering we'll have a while before actual release date, I'm not too worried.

Plenty of time of me to pay her off.

Not really the point. As collectors we all have disposable income or we wouldn't be collectors.
It's deciding whether the item you are receiving is worth the price tag attached. I honestly can't see $550 plus postage, and a lot more in taxes for international, worth in the product offered.

Having stated that's enough for me I honestly don't know what else I would spend my money on though :lol
Maybe I'm too far in, and conditioned, to back out :(

Sadly, Blitzway has its own factory. I think the ones used by Gentle Giant could do the trick, they're been very solid on human figures as far as I recall.

Dang, I did not know that. Yeah, lets just hope she comes out nicely done.

Also, this forum seems to be taking the price point of her better than the other forum. Its downright,..... pleasant in here.

The total is still $550 if you flex.

It's not like you are saving anything.

I think it's a mixed bag. It hurts me a lot more because I'm international AND our dollar is terrible. Imagine seeing this with an $800 price tag and you're me. :lol But that said, there's definitely a lot of fine paint work that will need to go into this, so if the extra money is there to make sure these come out as beautifully detailed as they possibly can, then it's more understandable.

The previous Red Sonja statue was also $30 more than other statues at that time, so there's likely a bit of a license bump. I definitely won't say that there wasn't a sticker shock when I saw the price. I was NOT expecting it to be anywhere near that price. That's $60 more than I thought it'd be. That said, if the money is going towards quality, and this isn't due out until December or something next year giving the artists more time, then -- while not ideal -- I can at least somewhat understand the price.

The huge base also has something to do with it! The Machiko PF was $439.99 when most were $399.99, and that piece also had a huge Xenomorph on the base. That statue came out looking great in terms of armor and base quality, so if the same translates to Red Sonja, with the extra giving the piece that extra care, then that's all that matters.

Basically, SSC is about $100-$150 away from XM pricing, minus shipping of course (on both).

Crazy.

I called that a while ago. I knew ss would take note of xm pricing and eventually get their price closer to XM. It's just a little confusing because aquaman and gl were 429 and 450. It's hard to gage they're pricing strategy.
