yeah Les's Zizzle is the Shizzle! i just posted that link because i think they are some of the worst possible, most unflattering pics ever taken of that fig lol.

It's worth it to repaint the eyes, believe me because you won't ever find a better figure, the outfit is superb and weaponry exact, Master Replicas teamed up with Medicom for this one, that's all I needed to know. :D

Just got mine today!!! I'm super impressed with him!! As Paul said.... you cannot judge him at all until you have him. He's 10X better than he looks in pics. The shirt is almost yellow as is the sash and the head paint is not bad either. I'm going to do some major work anyway... because... well... you know me... :lol

SO this weekend I should be finished, expect more followup pics!! Here he is right out of the box!!!

Sweet picc DA, I thought someone said he wasn't shipping until October. First Obi-Wan, then Qui-Gon, now Jack...wonder why none of mine are even scheduled to ship... :monkey2 :monkey2

Great pics, DA. He looks fantastic!

I got my shipping notice today. Jack is scheduled to make port here on the 20th.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I ordered direct from MR and have been waiting pretty impatiently for a while. :lol

They never even told me that he shipped.... I just kept checking the site until I noticed the item had shipped. And even THEN there was no tracking number, so all week I was pacing the office waiting for that yellow van to pull up. Finally I checked last night and lo and behold.... a tracking number was finally up and he was already almost here! So today, my early day, was interesting because I had to hang around the office for an hour after I got off just waiting for DHL.... :monkey4

Wow, he is GREAT! Look at the detail on that outfit! Gorgeous, told you guys the sculpt was there, an eye tweak, some boot weathering and this guy will be a seriously classic collectible. Gotta trust me on this stuff guys! :lol

Josh, can't wait to see what you do with him.

Ooohhh I can't wait to START! I'm getting him prepped as we speak... gonna do a little staining and redo the eyes, add the tattoo and burn... Drybrush the hair a little, age the scarf and a little minor retouch on the face followed up with a eye repaint....

Might be able to finish him tonight or tomorrow! :chew

ok.....just got finished.... I'm super proud of him and how he turned out. Though the pics are dark, you can kind of see what I did. But come tomorrow.... there will be much better pics in the light... I promise you.

Now to answer Conger's question..... How I did this....

Ok, well first I took off all of the clothing and set it aside. I then removed the head and started mixing the skin tones I would need. A very dark tone, a very light tone and an inbetween tone. I started with a dark wash and drybrushed the lighter shade on top of this. Then I followed up with the medium in a mixture of dry and wash methods until I had him just perfect.

I then added the eyebrows and mustache with black a a highlight of dark brown. After letting that dry I painted the off-whites of the eyes and the eyeliner. Then I moved on to the hair. I painted black onto the areas that my drybrushing had contacted with and let it dry. I followed that with a drybrushing of three different shades of black/brown until I thought I had a good representation of the character in the film.

Then the clothes needed attention, so I mixed a staining mixture of brown/black and stained the sash, shirt, vest and pants. I wrapped the sash around a spare Bucks legs to let it dry and put the shirt on my table. I did some skin tone work on the body's chest, neck and arms and let it dry. Once that was accomplished I put the clothing on the figure and started weathering the boots with browns and greys until I was satisfied. The belts, hat and weapons also recieved this treatment. I clothed the figure and got him ready for his head. I also did some work on the hands to match the head. Though I might actually have to come back and do more later... it's a little thin and spotty.... :monkey2

I painted the eyes with 3 layers of browns, from dark to light and attached the head. I let this dry for about an hour and came back to do the "dot". After this was finished I added gloss coat to the eyes and lips and viola!!!

Finished Jack!!

Thanks, you RULE !!! I'll try some of these, but most are beyond my skills. Can't wait to get him.

It's a beautiful figure, maybe one of Medicom's best and Josh, you have done a superb job there bro. The boots look great as does the hair, fleshtones and general weathering... and I am digging the tats! What I am most impressed with in seeing these pics is the amazing outfit detail Medicom put into this figure...

Now all you need is a rum bottle! :lol Congrats Josh!

REMARKABLE job DA!!! i swear if this fig had real hair, a cloth bandana (maybe pleather boots tho i do like the plastic ones), he'd be the ultimate figure evar!

Thanks guys! He was fun to work on, probably the easiest as well.... There was just so much there that I couldn't mess it up! I want to add the burned P on his arm as well... but I need photo reference.... someone borrowed my DVD.

I was amazed to find that the tattoo was already there! I didn't think it would be. It was dark black though... so I painted over it and it now has that "old tattoo" blue thing going....which I like.:D

Tats look better though! :D

Hey Josh, what are your overall impressions of the weapons, do they live up to the high Master Replicas standards?

Also, could you please comment on the poseability, the body looks good...

Well about the weapons.... I would say that the sword is pretty solid.... Though the blade was a little too clean right out of the box... but still very nice and accurate.

The gun isn't as nice as I would like, just doesn't look as good as what SSC would have given us. It just seems too light, and the material is far too soft for my taste. It's still a very cool flintlock and does the part well. Afterall, we don't see Jack use it very often and it looks perfect tucked away into the sash.

Posibility is nice but I think I like the HT body better still. He just can't seem to get himself into some of those wild poses that Jack gets into... you can get it close, but not exactly. Though I doubt ANY body could really do the things that Depp did with his body... :lol

The biggest deduction for this figure are those damn horrible Wrist joints on that body. They look horrible. HT and SSC have FAR better wrist IMO, as these just remind me of those old Mego hands. The wrap covers up the one wrist well enough though, so at least that helps... And the shirt hides everything, so no big deal.

best Jack ever in my opinion....except for CM... And worth almost the full amount what I paid. (medicom and their scalpers prices.. :monkey2 ) It's definetely a high quality collectors item worth having for the Pirates fans out there! :D

Thanks again Josh, one last question before my Jack docks here in Hollywood next week...

Is the outfit and tailoring as good as it "seams" in your pics? :D
