Re: Resident Evil Remake Remastered

RE6 was so ambitious and it failed miserably on that regard. That's honestly why I consider it the worst RE - ORC was...interesting, but kinda meh in idea alone honestly.

Re: Resident Evil Remake Remastered

ORC had a lot more potential in its execution than RE6. RE6 was just bum **** absurd.

not to forget ORC had one of the best control system, RE6 fails miserably in terms of controls & execution. the cutscenes were great too.

Re: Resident Evil Remake Remastered

I love the original two (& to a lesser extent RE3) because they're basically RPGs.

Not interested in any of the others if that's not central to them, just to clarify.

I really liked the original Silent Hill on PS1 as well - although normally, I'm really not a horror fan.

RPG without level ups & exp is not a RPG...

Re: Resident Evil Remake Remastered

You know what I mean bunky.

no i don't because i don't see much RPG element in the 1st 3 games, if you say RE4,5 & 6 maybe the weapon upgrade can be considered some RPG elements.

Survivor Horror is Survivor Horror.

would you consider Dead Space as a RPG, seeing that it has all the upgrade gimmicks? Hey you can actually increase health bars as you progress and also level up your defenses & Mana.

Without making good use of them :lecture

Look, let me break it down for ya spud. :lol

I'm an old schooler; my golden period was PS1 (I'm actually a kid of the late 70s / early 80s but I digress..) - I'm still catching up with the PS3 stuff because I only recently got one cheap due to the PS4 having launched since. I'm a fringe dweller when it comes to next gen gaming, so all these titles & examples you're mentioning - don't know anything about them.

My personal definition of an RPG (role playing game), is examples like Tomb Raider, RE1 / 2, Silent Hill, In Cold Blood, Broken Sword - etc. It may differ with what you're talking about, but that's where I'm at. Basically, I was just wanting a little feedback on some of those other RE titles - not a debate on genre semantics. :monkey1

you do realize almost every game can be considered a Role Playing Game based on your definition? Even Sim city where you play as the City's Owner. Even Street Fighter since you play different characters aka roles.

PS1 had tons of real RPG like Legend Of Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy VI, Final Mission etc, the games you brought up are either Survivor Horror or 3rd Person Action, nothing close to being a RPG by gaming definition.

I do realize that parlaying with a facetious veggie, is bearing zero fruit right about now. :stick

i just don't understand how RE, Silent Hill can be seen as RPG genre, i stated my points about what i felt an RPG has to be (level up/exp), but all you did was mentioning the PS1 era and what you deem as RPG games? Even games like FFXII-X2 is considered action RPG instead of true RPG. If you say RE is some sort of action RPG it might have been understandable for RE4 and beyond, but still where's the RPG elements in RE1,2 & 3? maybe if you'd just point it out?

ok let's just take your definition of Role Playing Games, so what is the difference between RE1 & 2 vs 3 that you like to a lesser extent? and what makes the rest of the RE games in the series less RPG oriented? and when you say central to them do you mean the storyline, or the characters (role)?

don't get me wrong i'm just trying to understand the difference between RE1,2,3 & the rest. because for someone who played all the games in the series except Gun Survivors 1 & 2, i don't see much difference in the genre except after 4 it becomes more action oriented with new controls. You play the role of Leon & Ada in 4, and Chris & Sheeva, Jill and that Black soldier in 5, and multiple roles in 6 & Racoon City.
