I'm not sure if you're referring to quality or some misguided notion that Depp isn't still aboard the ship, because if it's the latter you would be sadly mistaken. And I have faith in the films, even if you, a once vocal fan, do not.

Granted, it could end up going the way of the RE franchise and become a mindless eye candy festival. Even then, I enjoy the RE films for what they are and don't go in with bloated expectations of greatness.
