So....serious question:

When is quality/price mix (ie value) perfect?
IMO, Frodo and Sam...that's about it.

Is it perfect NOW at Snake Eyes and Indiana? Or should it go higher (and thus more expensive)?
I think Snake Eyes and Indiana are already over what I would fin "Ideal"... I think $120.00 will be the standard for a while for SS, as it was $120.00-$150.00 for Medi and HT and now it's going up

Should the next Frodo come with a diamond crusted Mithril shirt for $1,000?
Personally, I only want one Frodo, I don't think we'll see another one anyways...hahaha

Where should we go in the future?
China and get them for cheap at SS, HT and Medi factories :lol

And as a test, give me the 2 or 3 figures you felt the most "value" when considering quality and price.
SS Obi-Wan, Palpatine and Hobbits
HT Even though I don't own them, I've seen the Pirates and for their awesome outfits, I think the price is just about right. Maybe Preds to...
Medi...never, always overpriced, but the quality is amazing

I think Hot Toys had that almost "perfect" mix of quality/price with some of the figures when they were around the $100 to $120 mark. Some of their military figures came with so many accessories it was almost ridiculous! SnakeEyes is pretty close to that same mark...

Here is a good price example. When I go to Disney I can never believe the prices of their collectibles. No way in hell would I spend $600 for a 12 inch statue. Would I like some of these. Yes me and my wife love Disney. However, I just can't afford it. I don't complain because it is what it is. People must be buying them though for them to keep selling them. As I matter of fact I even pointed the prices out to my wife and said. "See be glad I don't buy this stuff." To which she replied "Don't get any ideas."

I'm sure Cinemaquette won't sell 1000 of the Predators at $2K. They didn't sell out any of their others, but "retired" them when they hit a certain mark - but it was well under the 1000 listed edition size.

Everything is going up in price and anything that is so reliant on petroleum products and transportation costs are going to go up at a steeper rate.

I'm cutting down on stuff and just recently actually cancelled an SSC item, for what I think is the first time.

I agree, but that's kind of like with Lladró porcelain figures, I personally find them cheesy and disgusting, but people buy them for thousands of dollars!!
Collectible prices aren't the same as their "value"... action figures are the closest thing to that. A lot of people wouldn't pay more than $50.00 for a toy, even if it's a "collectible" but we do :D

realistically you should buy only what you want to keep as a collectible.
The market will tank at some point just like they all do.

If youre gonna get stuck with something, make it what you want in your collection and not somehting you bought for value hopes.

Im glad Im a Universal Monsters collector and got most of my PFs while the price was decent...

I think that is kinda what I meant. I look at those $400 to $600 statues and think why. I can buy a high quality action figure that has accessories and joints and tailored clothes and spend way less. So I don't think $120 or even $150 is out of line if it is high quality. People ^^^^^ed when Sideshow started to slip quality wise. They have brought their A game this year. Their level of quality is also coming at a price. It sucks for the people that are priced out but this is what people asked for. Unfortunately in this world you can't ask for more without paying for more. It is just the way things work. It's the same in any industry. When I go out to eat there are plenty of other things I could order beside that expensive steak. I choose the expensive steak because that's what I want to eat. Sure I could get a cheaper cut, or different meal. But I don't want that. I want the best and am willing to pay for it. Same with my figures. If one day I reach in my pocket and can't buy the steak then I will order the chicken. :p

Thats true about the long wait. Its sometimes a painful wait, but it also gives you time to cool off or save up the money.
