I agree with just about everything that was said here. Yeah it sucks that prices keep going up, especially for the people who are financially strapped and still trying to collect, like myself. But thats when it comes down to being very picky with what you get. I personally won't get something unless I'm sure I'll be keeping it for the long haul. If it's something I think I might sell at some point then I wont bother. Sure there are lots of collectibles that look good, but ultimately is it something you really want, or are you just getting it because of the fact it will look nice in your collection. What an item is worth to someone and what they will pay based on that worth is a very personal thing, and can only be decided by the person who is making the purchase. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to continue digging in my backyard for money. :lol

I consider myself financially challenged. I can't afford the glorious 1:1 busts or high priced statues, so I stick with 1/6th figures. These days they do cost so much more than they used to, but over time what I once thought was expensive, Sideshow figures at A$60 and more, now don't seem so costly.

I was able to buy everything that took my fancy, to the point I was overwhelmed with figures I really didn't need. This relatively recent price hike of figures has it's positives. Now I buy high end 1/6th figures, but less of them. So the price rise has helped me discern more. Has made my collecting more rewarding, and yeah, you do pay more, but it's always been that way. What's good is the bar keeps getting higher, along with the price, so I don't consider it to be that bad, just relative.

I consider room to be more of a challenge that cost. I'm from downunder and the market isn't that big, so selling isn't really an option. If it were I would definitely be more happy. Sure I could sell, but the pittance I would get, for the figures I would want to sell, just isn't worth it the trouble.

I have a better question...

For those of you Like Darklord who buy almost everything under the sun, are you able to display all of them the way you would like to? If not, why do you buy so many things that will just sit in a box?

I often wondered what he did with all that shat. :dunno I think I read somewhere that some people actually pay for storage to put the stuff in. That way when they get a bigger place they can display them.

I rotate my items on display and thus, never have a static, boring display, but one that is dynamic and changing. Also, I want the items but don't want to have to pay the possible high prices later when I do have room to display them all. One item, for example the Ardeth Bey bust, going up to over $2000, if I had to pay current prices to get, would have paid for storage for ALL my items for two or three years!

i know what you are saying i slept on the first three alien dio's and the current rate is over $200 bucks a pop......i wont be making the same mistake with the pred. dio's....:chew:banana

Anything Alien and Predator pretty much increases in value. Hell you can even sell the Mcfarlane figures for more than twice what you would have paid for them.

In other words "I can't make up my mind. I like everything and have no self control. I have no organization and everything is a big cluster ^^^^ of ^^^^ and I don't know where to cram it all"

:lol

I've recently moved to a bigger place and the only big things boxed up are my MR Falcon and the SSC Predator. But the 1/6 have suffered and I plan on selling off most of the non-SSC stuff. I still have 2 different storage units around town - got to have some place for the 4 ft Frankenstein and all the Dragon figures...

I like how we complain about Rising costs... then we all order things almost every week.
