Infraction received and deservedly so. No need to get personal, i apologize to celticp.
Mine wasnt. I bearly got personal. You came after me. So of course I defended myself. Nothing in that post was rude. You were acting like a troll. I dont know why you needed too, but you were.
If it's over now...fine. But still. I disagree with the infraction.
Fine if you're not agreeing with the film's direction, but dont be a jerk about it.

i am tired of predators fighting regular people in current time. l would love to see a pred movie based in world war 2. like in pred 2 were gary busey character says preds are drawn to heat like Cambodia and Iwo Jima. killing marines in Iwo Jima in world war 2 l think would be sweat.
Would be very disrespectful to those marines in my opinions, making entertainment out of their very real horrors of war.

How so? Saving Private Ryan was a fictional story and I don't think that was at all, disrespectful to the 2nd BN Rangers. That's like saying Titanic was disrespectful to everyone who sunk. So long as it doesn't poke fun at real soldiers, I think just about any backdrop would be fine. I really like the WWII Pacific front, it allows jungle and would be great to see predators with older tech. Hell, even a Vietnam prequel would be good too.
I can see where 8th is coming from. Saving private Ryan is different really because although a fictional story it's not an alien running round ripping peoples spines out and trapping them in nets that tighten around your skin and crush you.
Personally I wouldn't find it disrespectful but I can imagine someone mentioning something if a movie like that did happen. I always thought a pred movie in the desert would be cool.
your right also. a lot of veterans were glad it was very graphic because it shows EXACTLY what they did and saw. it was not sugar coated like most war movies.

A predator in the Viking-age would be cool though.
It'd be a fine line, if the story were written one way, it could play out respectful to the real life situations, but if it tipped the other way, it could seem like it was mocking the whole thing. Unfortunately, with the budgets these movies get, I'm not sure you could count on a writing team that could go the respectful route.
I said it with AVPR and I'll say it again, the most important thing with these movies to iron out before all else are the human characters, come up with good ones, make them interesting and make them so that people will care about them, don't think about the Predator or Predators or whatever creature until after that's worked out. I think part of the success of the original Predator is that the Predator itself is sort of a lurking danger, but the story is written around the people, how they react to it, how they work together to overcome it, it's crafted in a way that makes you feel like you're there with them and you get to know them and like some of them and hope a few get out alive. You can't have your human characters all be expendable in a movie like this, which is where the AVPs went off track. I don't know how the humans in this movie will be, but to me, it's the most important thing to get right for these movies to work, it's easy to come up with badass stuff for the creatures to do, writing solid human story seems to be challenging and therefore should get the most attention.
