Infraction received and deservedly so:lecture. No need to get personal:lecture, i apologize to celticp.

Mine wasnt. I bearly got personal. You came after me. So of course I defended myself. Nothing in that post was rude. You were acting like a troll. I dont know why you needed too, but you were.

If it's over now...fine. But still. I disagree with the infraction.

Fine if you're not agreeing with the film's direction, but dont be a jerk about it.

"The no need to get personal was directed at myself" declaring in public my faulty attitude.

My knowledge about trolls though is that they provoke people without any genuine opinion or emotion, they just do it to provoke, i don't. This movie just angers me, i don't consider my remarks as trolling.

That said, i agree with my infraction because this is a rude way to debate.

celticp is just a predator fan who has high hopes for this movie, and there is nothing wrong with that. were are lucky we live in countries were we can disagree and have freedom of speech. its all good.:)

I got an infraction too lol. I dont agree with it, as I was defending my self. Maybe i'm just used to different views on infractions....:dunno.

It's just, and i've learned over the years, even when I disagree with something I dont know, I cant go off on it, making myself look like an _______.

I'm guilty of it....:lol but I try not to do it all the time. And if I do, I explain WHY I dont like it. Without attacking anyone. Unless they're being redonkulous...Like in the ANOES thread.

You were both infracted because I said when I reopened this thread that anyone starting up the same old bull____ in here would get infracted. It's not the specific words in your posts but the continued feuding in here. I've warned people to knock it off more than enough, I've explained the way to do things, if people want to ignore me that's fine, but be prepared to live with infractions and losing this thread.

DEAD SERIOUS, next post that has nothing to do with the movie or discusses it in an uncivilized manner and this thread is closed, enough is enough, you people are acting like children and it's rediculous.

i am tired of predators fighting regular people in current time. l would love to see a pred movie based in world war 2. like in pred 2 were gary busey character says preds are drawn to heat like Cambodia and Iwo Jima. killing marines in Iwo Jima in world war 2 l think would be sweat.

Would be very disrespectful to those marines in my opinions, making entertainment out of their very real horrors of war.

How so? Saving Private Ryan was a fictional story and I don't think that was at all, disrespectful to the 2nd BN Rangers. That's like saying Titanic was disrespectful to everyone who sunk. So long as it doesn't poke fun at real soldiers, I think just about any backdrop would be fine. I really like the WWII Pacific front, it allows jungle, makes perfect sense for Preds hunting elite and would be great to see them with older tech. Hell, even a Vietnam prequel would be good too.

I can see where 8th is coming from. Saving private Ryan is different really because although a fictional story it's not an alien running round ripping peoples spines out and trapping them in nets that tighten around your skin and crush you. :lol

Personally I wouldn't find it disrespectful but I can imagine someone mentioning something if a movie like that did happen. I always thought a pred movie in the desert would be cool.

your right also. a lot of veterans were glad it was very graphic because it shows EXACTLY what they did and saw. it was not sugar coated like most war movies.

you got to admit though its not a bad idea. better then this new movie plot l think. but l can see some might be upset from it.

It'd be a fine line, if the story were written one way, it could play out respectful to the real life situations, but if it tipped the other way, it could seem like it was mocking the whole thing. Unfortunately, with the budgets these movies get, I'm not sure you could count on a writing team that could go the respectful route.

I said it with AVPR and I'll say it again, the most important thing with these movies to iron out before all else are the human characters, come up with good ones, make them interesting and make them so that people will care about them, don't think about the Predator or Predators or whatever creature until after that's worked out. I think part of the success of the original Predator is that the Predator itself is sort of a lurking danger, but the story is written around the people, how they react to it, how they work together to overcome it, it's crafted in a way that makes you feel like you're there with them and you get to know them and like some of them and hope a few get out alive. You can't have your human characters all be expendable in a movie like this, which is where the AVPs went off track. I don't know how the humans in this movie will be, but to me, it's the most important thing to get right for these movies to work, it's easy to come up with badass stuff for the creatures to do, writing solid human story seems to be challenging and therefore should get the most attention.

Saving private Ryan wasn't entertainment, it tried very hard to give you a gruesome experience because that's what war is, gruesome. Predator movies are pure entertainment. The problem is in MY OPINION that this generation is getting desensitized with WW2 trough all this mixing nazi's with science fiction etc..in modern day pop-culture. This is just all my opinion ofcourse.

It's only disrespectful if it takes away from history. It can just as easily be done using a secret OSS-type team inserted during one of the beach landings. So long as the invasions are used as just a backdrop, it should be fine. There're a number of WWII horror movies currently out that have, ghosts, zombies, demons, etc., and there've yet to be any "offended vets" ranting about them.

l think with good writing it could work. l am a big world war 2 nut. what l mean by that is l love learning about the battles and how and why the war started.l have many books and documentaries. so l have great respect for veterans. but l think it could make a cool movie. it would be about the landing on the island and fighting the Japanese. then they start finding dead soldiers that is were not killed by the Japs. l do not know, thought it was not a bad idea.

:goodpost: I agree that a WW2 setting/theme would :rock
